dragonballz manga :)

i'm at kent uni and one of my two local comic shopa had the first ten issues in graphic novel form..not continous though, basically 10 issues in one book. :)

and it was for 10.99..which i'm happy about..can't wait till thursday when the next set come through. :E
and oh..it's absolutely brilliant..the fight between raditz and goku/piccolo is drawn absolutely amazingly. especially when piccolo releases his "light of death"..man oh man..

and the humour is brilliant..when kuririn tells himself that he'll never get a girlfriend at this rate when he agrees with goku to help him fight against raditz and this time death means death as he can't be wished back from death a second time as shen-long doesen't grant the same wish twice...hehehehe

or the pure brutalness of vegeta and nappa which he showed as they were eating that alien they'd just killed or how raditz just grabs that farmer's bullet and flicks it back with his index finger and kills the farmer.

do u watch the TV Anime??? it's just as good, sept for the fact that most of the eps r taken up by people staring at each other b4 they fight........

i've seen some of it and frankly, compared to the original mangas it pales...mainly because i haven't seen the uncut japanese versions but the VERY heavily cut, americanised, no blood whatsoever, horrible translation job, no humour whatsoever coming through....that's why i'm enjoying the mangas a hell of a lot of more!!!

and oh, the mangas are also a lot more dramatic, suspenseful, captivating because all the sound effects which are written onto the actual comic panels you'r imagining in your head!!
basically the bits the comic can't do compared to the TV(sound, music, colour) work a lot better because everything comes out a lot better when one uses their imagination!!!

Don't know what your talking about!!! The trans is good, the blood bit...... well.... guess so, but the humor!! I guess there isn't as much but it's still there and still funny. I can't get the manga that easily so i have 2 settle with the Anime.... It's an okay watch..... Specially now Goku's finally gone SSJ1.

my dear boy, it is widely known that the translation of DBZ is quite botched up..would someone else also please tell Dragonair??
if you read any of the mangas then you would see what you'r mising...and from what i saw of the anime the humour is ok..the translation doesen't allow a lot of it to come through smoothly!! yes, the fight scenes are good but they've cut a lot out of the fight scenes too...so you'r still missing quite a bit..and personally i find it more enjoyable to read through the fight scenes in the manga.

by the way, one of the DBZ comics in the shop i was talking abut had an ad for a DBZ movie which is supposed to be out soon or is already out?? anyone know about this??

the movies have been out here for 16 years, I'm a she and i do read manga!!!
Yes the trans can b very weird but so r nearly all other anime series.

Hmm.
I've seen what's in the Japanese originals, and whilst I admit there is a lot cut out, I don't think it spoils what's left in any way.
I've found out a LOT about Dragonball Z whilst researching for my site, and I don't think that it's been at all spoiled.
The main reason I like it is the humour, I dunno if any of you have seen the "Particle Man" Music video (one of the few ones not created by Cadtor Troy) but it's great.
I love seeing the universe's most powerful fighter acting like, well, a complete idiot :)
It's great, and I don't see how a true fan can diss what is still a GREAT thing.

hell no..i'm not dissing dragonball, i'm a fan to you know..it's just that i seem to find the mangas more exciting...plus as you said there is a lot cut out in both translation and the actual cartoon itself.
and sorry dragonair if i got a little over excited but that happens to me once in a while..

I'm not saying I don't like the mangas, but with what's been edited out the original and the American TV version are almost 2 different things.
I have to say that for me it hasn't spoilt the enjoyment, and heck, after trying to get my site onto some search engines i'd say I'm not the only one who still likes the edited version :)
