i've been around on wireplay since early '98 and it was pretty big then so it must have been going a while in 97 :)

I used wireplay in 97...

Mainly used it for Duke Nukem & Red Alert

I then moved onto AA / CS / TFC

I was one of the lucky trialists of the original software, there were about 100 of us I think. This was round about the beginning of 1997 from memory. I just played endless games of Euro96, which was great fun.

I remember late 97 and looking for somewhere to play QII, happened upon the WP adds in PC Format etc.... 2.5p a min off peak, but well worth it, low pings fast connection, worth every penny.

Then mooching about I found the AA SW, first time logged on straight into teams....... whoooa WTF was that 2 109's side by side runwaying verything on the GB side (me included) one of them was Nuke.

Hehe spent the rest of the afternoon trying to get the barsteward, to no avail.

And that was me hooked!

Dave B, I remember fy first time on AA. Straight into FFA, lasted all of 15 seconds. I was shot down several times by Tank Girl and Wildcat, and never did get my revenge.
