Site hit counter

I need a script for a site hit counter but I am finding hard to find one that works.

I am using freeserve to host my site at present, does anyone know of script that would work on a freeserve server thanx.

I really need the Script and HTML code to put it on my site thanx.

I don't know about Freeserve, but most counters are CGI based (or used to be) I haven't heard of an embeded counter for an html page. Someone asked for a counter for their page the other day, so If it will help you could use a free counter like the following:

http://www.thecounter.com

OR

http://www.fastcounter.com

Dahfish is correct - counters have to be server-side, and Freeserve don't let you do anything like that, I'm afraid. Quite a few places offer counters. Bravenet (http://www.bravenet.com/), for example, do counters, forums, vote-y things...
