i have installed cequadrat's [supposedly] excellent packet cd 3.0, but every time i select format
cdrw (either with compression or without) the process comes to a halt every time with
12 minutes and 44 seconds remaining, and whilst the busy light on the cd rw drive remains on,
the software has crashed. i am using a 2x24x2 hival cdrw drive and have the right aspi drivers
installed. is this a software problem, a driver problem, or a hardware problem - if anyone has
any ideas i would be very grateful - the help files are very brief, as is their website, and if
anyone has any idea how to erase and reformat the three cdrws have failed during format i'd
be grateful too.

I'm no expert...but a 2x2x24 is slow and probably old....could it be something to do with a new technology is being used that the writer must support, and urs doesn't? or could it be to do with the media u r using?

Not much help really....

on my cdrw's u can erase them by right clicking the drive on my computer and the menu has a format option
or most cd recording programs can do it

the problem u might be having is that to use a udf file system the disc has to be either new or completely erased

the quick 1-2 minute erase only deletes the table of contents so it can't be formatted correctly
u have to do the full erase which usually takes me about 45mins :(

yeah i think packet cd uses UDF, so i have a partially formatted udf cd - how could i reformat it, nero doesnt think its a cdrw.
