I have a Creative 3D Blaster Riva TNT2 Ultra 32MB card in my PIII 300MHz box with 128MB RAM. I recently downloaded the Detonator 6.18 drivers from nVidia.

I uninstalled everything as per the Detonator instructions, installed 6.18 Detonator drivers, installed Directx7a, reinstalled halflife.

Game plays good under dx, but runs really slow under opengl (strangely, I cannot connect to servers if i am using opengl, but i presume this is a timeout problem)

Any suggestions? Can't remember if I used opengl before - i think I've always had problems with it but can't remember. I have managed to play single player under opengl once and its a much sharper picture, so i'd like to do this again.

I'm a bit of a duffer when it comes to graphics drivers - please help

Hi m8

I have found that HL loves to be run in Direct 3D and isn't very happy with open GL.

Also the latest detonator drivers are supposed to be REALLY slow on anything other than a Geforce because they have disabled sidebanding (I think its called that, someone correct me if I'm wrong)and this apparantly makes it more stable but slower.

Whats the line from blade runner "the brighter the flame the shorter it burns".
Well i suggest you get the disk you got with your Card and re-install them. Or download the Creative drivers from http://www.creative.com If you don't have any really serious problems then I wouldn't bother upgrading them.

Hope I could help
