PS2 Multi Region ??

Now that sony have decided to give the UK version of the PS2 a hardware decoder will this be able to play Region 1 dvds?

Just buy the Wharfdale multi region dvd player and spend the 100 quid you save on films/Beer and forget about using a PS2 as a dvd player.
