I posted this at the end of a similar message yesterday, but to no avail :) - I still need help (but lets sort out the card problem first....)

I took delivery of a new PC yesterday , and I'm getting a display problem - the text is fuzzy on CS, and there is a patch about 20' (game feet) in front of my player model that looks sorta "misty"...only appears to be on the horizontal plane tho, all vertical planes are very crisp. I've switched up from playing on a laptop with software video mode, and I know nothing about graphics cards :)

The PC is a 1Ghz with 256Mb, and a GeForce2 GTS 64Mb, and I know bugger all about drivers, etc...pls can anyone help ? My fps in-game is about 60-70, and yes, I've set the fps_max to 100...I reckon it should be a bit higher than this tho.

check your monitor refresh rate if it 60hz youl get th emisty display bump it up to 85hz,check your graphics card is also refresh at 85hz,all these settings will be in Display/Advanced somewhere :)

Also make sure anti-aliasing is disabled in your nvidia options that will increase your frame rate.

Ta Thorne. I tried the refresh tip, all that did after much buggering about was to shift the misty patch twice as far away on the game :(

The anti-aliasing thingy worked tho - I now get around the 90- 100 fps mark :)

As I said, I bought the PC this week, so I'm assuming all the drivers and whatever are the latest - the drivers listed in the NVidia section show 4.12.01.0618, are these the best/latest ones ? Anyone know if updating these would cure the misty problem, or is that down to the hardware on the card ?
