View Full Version : Case fans
Right, would using fans from PSU's(80/90mm) do the job for the usuall duron/kt7 setup... or do you have to buy the type from OcUK for example?

If your motherboard has three pin fan connectors, then go for the YS-TECH FD8125 80mm Fan fan from OcUK. If not, then just use an 80mm 4 pin version that you can plug into the normal power connectors in your PC. Hopefully, you'll have a case which will allows fans to be mounted at the front and back of the PC case.
Well I have 4 spare PSU fans(love my local second hand computer shop:)), so will they do the same job(performance wise) as the ones OcUK sell?
And would it be possible to convert the 4pin connectors to 3pin ones?

I doubt they would give the same performance, but, unless you intend to OC alot then they should be fine.
And yes, you can convert a 3 too 4 pin, but, id suggest using the 4 pin connectors as you dont risk drawing to much power from the mobo.

Ok thanks a lot, thats cleared most thingys up for me.
You dont happen to know how many case fans the Goldwin 802 will take do you?

do you mean the globalwin 802?
if so it takes 2 as standard.
The PSU fans are pretty awful, i have one in my Juno p6, and it barely moves any air.
A sunon or ys-tech will move a lot more air.
Doh!
Thats what I meant
Ok, thanks for all that, I'll just buy "decent" fans when I plan to OC my duron.

I use two old power supply fans in my globalwin 802, there fine, system temp 27 oC and cpu 34 oC. Try them first, they maybe ok.
what CPU you running there?
duron 600 with coolermaster hsfan
Those are nice temps! compared to others on this board.
ooops... :|

I have an 802... I squeezed a 120mm fan under the drive-bays, sucking through the air filter on the front. I have an 80mm exhaust blowing the hot air out the back and a coupla those 'card-cooler' fans.
Obviously it makes a bit of a din when they're all on, but it's great for lans.
Oh, and my case temp is 23 with all those badboys on, 25 with just the 80mm, CPU and PSU fans on.
