hi i am thinking of buying this card as an upgrade to my pc
my current specs are intel celeron 433mhz 4mb shared agp intergrated graphics 64 mb ram there is no agp slot in my machine so must go with pci is this a good upgrade? and is this card any good?
apologies if this has been a daft question im new to this graphic card lark.:-)
The Vanta pci is supposed to be the best pci card around. I have a Voodoo 3 2000 pci which I am very happy with and they only cost £49.99 from PC World.Bit of a nightmare really what to choose which card.

Well if you are not planning on getting a new motherboard/processor upgrade, and you need to get a PCI card, then the TNT or the Voodoo cards are the only way to go.
They are both great cards, but it depends what you play on your machine which should make you decide what you buy. If you play a whole bunch of different games (ie. first person shooters, flight-sims, space-sims, real time strategy, action, etc.) then you might want to look at getting a Voodoo3 PCI card. The voodoo cards are probably the most compatible video card around (since they support all three major API's: Glide, D3D, and OpenGL).
However, the Voodoo3 cards only support up to 16-bit colour modes, and the TNT2 cards support up to 32-bit colour modes. Most modern games can use up to 32-bit, but the Voodoo3's still look impressive since they use a post-filter which actually makes them look like 22-bit. Also, the TNT2 has 32 MB ram, and the Voodoo3 only has 16 MB.
If you can afford it, you might want to look into getting a Voodoo5-5000 PCI (64MB) which supports 2k x 2k textures, 32-bit colour, FSAA, t-buffer effect, etc. However, no matter what you choose, your system will become better than what it is now :)

no dont get the vanta!!! IT SUX, like hell. it's a very cut down version of the tnt2. it is very slow, the extra 16mb is just there to make it look good. wot happened to all the knowledgeable ppl here???? u thick or sumthin??? how can tnt2m64/vanta be better than a voodoo3 2000??? just coz it has 32mb??? man ur easy to con. the v3 doesn't support 32bit colour but that doesn't matter coz u don't see the improvement when ur playin a fast game like q3. an the v5 just isnt worth it's price i wont go into details coz i cant be bothered, just do some research.

PS:no offence.
P5's right, dont get the vanta. I tried on once and it was worse than my old banshee, get a voodoo 2000/3000 pci, at least you will see a decent performance increase..
