I am looking for a good web host as my current one doesn't want me using and cgi scripts other than a guestbook thingy. As I am making a forum I will need one that will allow full cgi usage. I will also be needing a reasonable amount of space.

Obviously the cheaper the better, any sugestions?

I need to move current website www.psl.immortals.co.uk to one which will allow a forum. I will also be revamping it and making it better soon.

Thanks guys.

If you don't mind dishing out too much dosh - you could spend £10 a month on F9's premium service which gives you unlimited space, a cgi account, frontpage extensions blah blah blah. Oh and you can FTP using any dial up.

Otherwise you could try virtual avenue they're free but can be a tad slow.

Finally I can suggest freeola as I believe they allow you allsorts of cgi capers however you have to use their stinky dial-up.

There'll surely be others though gu-dink! <- to be said in a strange Deep South accent for no reason.

Do NOT use Force9 (F9).
Their whole backbone is fecked up - slow and crappy.

Yes you can upload using any dialup, but u HAVE to use their dialup to upload to the cgi-bin.

I tried them for 3 months then left them.

If you want a good webhost, try http://www.wantsomegetsome.net

Either

1gb space and 17gb bandwidth or
Unlimited space and unlimited bandwidth

All for about $18 or £12.

You are allowed as many MySQL databases at no extra cost, as well as telnet/ftp/anonftp etc.

I have been using them a few months and love them!

Oh, and forget about Freeola too.

Slow as heck, and often cannot access your site.

http://www.webfusion.co.uk are good, but MUCH more expensive then US based ones.

I tend to use US ones as they are better value for money.

So in other words ignore everything I said as it's sh*t.
;( cheers.

FWIW F9 has never been slow or crappy for me, but maybe that's just been a fluke...

Just trying to help.

I did use them when they went through that long period of errors.
Actually, I have used them twice - both times they were crap.

Hypermart.net is good considering it's *free*.
