Can anyone tell me how to change the IRQ's for my Voodoo3 3000 AGP and my SB Live, as i believe that this maybe slowing down my system. Unfortunatly i can't change them from my bios, so can anyone explain to me how to do it another way or even if i need to. Go slowly i'm a bit simple :)

Currently the sb live is in the first pci slot and i've heard that that isn't the best place for it.

Anyway here are my current IRQ settings, are these allright?

0 System timer
1 Standard 101/102-Key or Microsoft Natural Keyboard
2 Programmable interrupt controller
3 Communications Port (COM2)
4 Communications Port (COM1)
5 Creative SB Live! SB16 Emulation
6 Standard Floppy Disk Controller
7 Printer Port (LPT1)
8 System CMOS/real time clock
9 IRQ Holder for PCI Steering
9 3dfx Voodoo3 v1.05c+
9 ACPI IRQ Holder for PCI IRQ Steering
9 SCI IRQ used by ACPI bus
10 Creative SB Live! Value
10 ACPI IRQ Holder for PCI IRQ Steering
11 Intel 82371AB/EB PCI to USB Universal Host Controller
11 ACPI IRQ Holder for PCI IRQ Steering
12 PS/2 Compatible Mouse Port
13 Numeric data processor
14 Primary IDE controller (dual fifo)
14 Intel 82371AB/EB PCI Bus Master IDE Controller
15 Secondary IDE controller (dual fifo)
15 Intel 82371AB/EB PCI Bus Master IDE Controller

Thanks in advance. :)

try disabling the SB 16 emulation, shutting off any unused Com ports (in bios is best), and try moving the SB live to a diferent slot.

That should free up at least one IRQ and might stop the Voodoo sharing it's IRQ.

Gamma,

I do not think you'll be able to move the IRQ of the Voodoo card, as it's an AGP version it's pretty much set in stone. You should however, be able to change the IRQ of the SB Live card but this will probably involve the card being moved to a different slot. I won't go into it in detail again here, but if you have a look at the answers I've already posted on these links:

http://forums.gameplay.com/showthread.php?threadid=181677

and

http://forums.gameplay.com/showthread.php?threadid=181562

then you should be able to see what can be done.

Hope this helps!

i just think that numbnutz should get a VERY special mention, after reading his reply in this post and the 2 other links he gave he really shows that he will try to fix people's probs on their pc's. not many people on these boards write detailed replies of more than a page long.

so cheers numbnutz your a top bloke!!

I have a V3 2K AGP version, and ive had the irq from 3 up to 13 without a problem (well, why do you think i changed the irq if i didnt have a problem) But the point is that you can move the irq of a V3 card.
