i have a £30 coupon for buy.com so i was thinking of upgrading my hard drive seeing as its only 4gb and i only ever have abuot 50mb of space left
i know that the ibm telesto drives are supposed to be very good but they don't have in my price range
anyhoo i've come up with a choice between these
Seagate BARRACUDA ATA II 30.6GB UDMA66 3.5LP 8.2MS 7200RPM - £125.89
Quantum FIREBALL PLUS LM 30GB - £124.01
i've looked on the manufacturers websites and they both have 2mb cache, 7200rpm etc.
i'd prolly go for the seagate just because it has a little bit more space on it but which one would you reccomend ?
oh and a know they count 1gb as 1000mb instead of 1024mb so how much space would there be after formatting etc.
I'd go for the Seagate too...
I have a 26gig Quantum Fireball but recently have heard bad things about them (even though I;ve never had problems)
So yeah, Seagate if you can afford it :)

Theres some new 20gb a platter ones due out soon but for now there all gonna be 5400rpm drives so the IBM deckstars rule the roost at the mo :E

thats the one ive got.....really good.Save your money, and get one of these drives. You can only just hear it when its reading( and i mean only just), SiSoft Sandra benchmark test`s put it 50% higher than the equivalent Maxtor( what my m8 has).
Evfen if you carnt afford it, other peeps please take note, you will not regret it.
b.t.w. i`m heavily into performance hardware, running a 750 Athlon @ 1120 mhz a.t.m, so i know what i`m taking about :)

My personal preference would be to get one of the IBM GXP drives. I use a 15gb version in my PC and it's a nice piece of kit.
Of your two current choices, I'd pick the Seagate.

Get an IBM 75GXP drive. They really do wh00p the ass off the rest. And the 20GB per platter ones are allready out, they have been since the 75GXP, they are called the 40GV, and are 5400rpm. But of coarse, that aint important. Get the 75GXP.
