U should see a marked improvement over ur TNT2 as the GF2's onboard hardware T&L engine takes a massive load off ur CPU and leaves to do other things. If u can afford it, get GF1/2 cos as u upgrade it will manage to keep up with u for some time.
As for compat issues u shouldn't have any problems if u install the latest nvidia reference drivers (Det 6.18 and above) If u get a GF1 card then make sure u have at least a 250 W power supply.
Ive got an AMD K6-2 550 and I used to have a Voodoo 3000 the only game I've noticed a differnce with my geforce 2 is Soldier of Fortune before it was really not that playable, couldn't even fire the mache gun with out the FPS going down to about 7 but now it's excellent as this game takes advantage of the T&L features of the card and looks sweet! games like Q3A hasn't improved the frame rate at all or UT for that matter, but I bought this for the future knowing that T&L is the way to go and I'm saving my pennies for a new mobo and proccy

I have K62400/128Mb RAM. I recently replaced my ATI Rage Fury 32Mb with a Geforce 2.
My 3DMark 2000 score doubled to about 2100, which is still crap. All the 3DMark demos are still very jerky on the highest detail setting.
As for games, there has been SOME improvement in Q3, UT and Half-Life although severe slow down still occurs in all 3 when a lot is going on. In Half-Life especially, the frame rate is over 60 fps UNTIL the processor has some work to do...then it drops to under 20 in places . It seems that a cool graphics card CANNOT make up for a crap processor ;( when the sh1t hits the fan.
As for Hardware T&L - I think the game has to be coded to specifically take advantage of it and most of the current ones aren't ;( Hopefully patches will become available for the more popular games, using this feature?
I also have a SEVERE compatibility issue with Aliens versus Predator. Since installing the Geforce2 the sound is totally mashed in places and my frame rates are still total sh1t - unplayable for 70% of the time I would say.
I have overclocked the processor to 450 in the past - the difference was slight.
I would spend the money on a new processor/mobo instead - that's guaranteed to speed up EVERYTHING you run on your machine. The Geforce is an awesome graphics card, but its not at home when paired with a weak processor ;(
well my processor is a 500mhz one i get about 33 fps in unreal tournament at 1068*768 maximum detail quake 3 i get 25 fps at same resoultion and maximum detail but the game i need to know how good the geforce2 is in DEUS EX
