Having got both the films and both being very classy philisophicaly intruguing with great animation they both however lack something.

Anyone who has seen Patlabour 2 would remmber the begining witht he military labours getting blown up, possbaly on of the best short mecha combat scenes ever.

Now i know that in the manga there is plenty of mecha combat but it is severely lacking in the films. Especailly the second one. Now i thing this is a waisted oppurtunity because the mechas especially in the 2nd film look incredably good and well detailed as well as being plausably realisitc, they are also suppourted by ground forces etc.

now do we get to see them fighting each other? nope we get some (nice) helicopter blowing up a few tower scenes and some (ok) sewer fighting bits but nothing special considering that the film leads up to this but it ends up being a giant anti climax.

Quite possibly why I found the film so boring. Didn't like either of them...
