Wp 2.3 nicknames in WP3

I wont bother with spec of computer as wp3 has worked for me up to now and this is not a probelm with my computer hardware etc.

I downloaded WP3 final (released yesterday) and when I ran it it said account does not exist. So I created new account, choose account name, nickname and password for that account.
I ended up on the screen that tells me that the Nickname I have chosen is registered from WP2.3 and that if I want to use it I must enter the password for that Nickname. So I did but it keeps saying that the password is incorrect :(

I know I am using the right password because I ran WP2.3 and used the nickname/password and successfully logged on
So whats the problem? Why does wp2.3 accept my password but wp3 doesnt?

I have noticed that the form box that asks for my wp2.3 password doesnt convert the text into asterixes like the password boxes on the previous pages do. Could this be the problem?

I have just found how to use my old password, in another post someone said to use CAPITALS when typing in your old pasword. I didn't hold out much hope but it worked for me, so I would try that m8 :)
