View Full Version : Appalling would be an unfair description for WP3 service, wouldn't it ?

Or would it ?

Every service, every feature you are dreaming about has been operational at

the ZONE

MPLAYER

and HEAT

for years. You are reinventing the wheel, but its looking decidedly unround from where I am looking.

To contribute a technical opinion:

Firstly,
I am amazed that you imagine that a 1 Meg download , probabably using 1 launch technology, would work adequately for up to 100 different p2p games covering up to 4yrs of differing programming techniques.

Even the Mighty ZONE requires you to download "individual" clients for each and every game you log on for for the 1st time.

Secondly,
The reaction of the programming team to critisms is disappointing and hardly adult. On the internet, everyone is 1 mouse click away from the next competing games website.

This is especially true of P2p games. We don't truely need the much vaunted netfeed do we once the game is under way. Hence matchmaking on zone servers over in the USA is just fine.

Basically,

"Gamers do not need to be grateful to anyone at GP/WP ",

We , love us or hate us, have to be kept happy by u, not vice versa.

Finally
I hope u guys have seen Gameplay's trading figure's and share price . You better pull up your socks' or,,,,

u do have to d/l the latest patches for most p2p games to play on wp much the same as the zone, checkout the d/l's tab in the client.

Im so very sorry but all that vite has said is true. For a multi million pound company this is appalling. One thing i dont agree with is the netfeed. We do need a decent netfeed. The usual we will use this till its knackered has tripped WP up again, although i doubt they will admit it. Either that or its the FPS that get to use the concert feed and nuts to every one else.
As for launching WP3 on the Monday, which just happened to coincide with that damn show, just smacks of political bull once again. I think cacker's post below signals that also

Cacker:
Hi,

Unless gameplay give us some socks, we have nowt to pull up.

Says it all in uderlying tones doesnt it.

Dont think im Anti GP cos im not but I thought Gaming was supposed to be fun, it is afterall not a cheap passtime. At the moment it isnt fun unless you play one of the many FPS. Just somone start telling the truth and/or get the thing running properly.

Arian,
Not wanting to sound stoopid, but what show?

And, as far as I know, our netfeed has no bearing on a P2P game once it's started. You talk between peers and don't talk to Wireplay. No doubt someone will correct me if I'm wrong. (and no doubt no-one will confirm it if I'm right :))

And yes we're a multi-million pound company, but we are also only just over 1 year old.

Vite,
Who said that we imagine a 1meg d/load to cover all of those games, currently we only imagine that the d/load will cover the games we support (which funnily enough, it does :))
But I don't forsee the file size getting much bigger, as Cacker said there's only a couple of different ways of doing the P2P stuff, DPLobby, DPEnum, Command line and FastR
Perhaps our stuff is a better design than the ZONE :E

And secondly, if you've been reading these forums, which I reckon you have, you'll know that some of the comments and complaints that people have had have been far more childish and, in some instances, abusive towards us.

Yes you're right, we have to please you, and yes, you don't need to be grateful to us, but we have been busting a gut to get this done, and sometimes it'd be nice if a few people were a little more understanding

I would have to yes, there are problems with the service, but I would say that it's improving all the time (and maybe even at a faster pace than the ZONE/ Mplayer etc...)

Sorry if this sounds a little confrontational, it's not meant to, but when the few of us here are working 15/16 hour days to get it working for you guys and we get complaints our shortness is at least a little understandable (if not acceptable). Perhaps Cacker has a point about the socks :)

what will help then terra ? -

IMO if wireplay does not have the neccasary support from gameplay then it is up to WIREPLAY to put forward a CASE for more support

I find it hard to believe that GAMPLAY are satisified with WIREPLAY

although i am also aware that GAMEPLAYS vision may not coincide with that of people who play online games

Moaning griping shouting swearing cursing and the likes at the development team doesnt help. It adds to there already pretty stressfull job.

What WILL help is the following.

1) Testing the game and posting the results on here.

2) Trying to put forward constructive critisism. Any fool can post its crap , your crap wireplays crap. It takes intelligence to post Constructive critisim like this for eg

Wireplay was crap tonight the reasons for this are...blah blah blah..i tried ....blah blah to get it working and it still wouldnt work. Its not the netfeed as i can logon withut any probs but it could possably be blah blah blah.

Get your fingers out and try and sort it asap. If you need more info let me know.

Id say that is more helpful than typing Wireplays crap and you have had long enough to fix it ..type posts.

Yes we are all annoyed and angry but this doesnt help anyone to get it working. If you can tell me how it helps to post drivel like that then pleae let me know how.

cheers

Live 2000, say no more !!

If p2p is not affected by traffic through you then i cant uderstand why when Ta was working on one of the Betas and on Sunday nights when traffic is high it then wouldnt.

Now nuff said.
Last night for the first time in ages Ta played like a dream without any of the usual hangs.. It played like you was on a LAN.
That was until around 11pm. Now the fact that it stopped at 11pm is no bother to me as you must now know what needs doing to get it working again.
After 11pm i was not possible to get a prop up again it just wouldnt show.

And after all my moans I must say thank you from the bottom of my heart for getting us going again..
Kind Regards Arian

VITE.......WP3 is very good, take it from someone who has used ZONE and MPLAYER for 6 mths and had nothing but problems:angry:

ZONE=USA, crap pings, crap players who are anti British
MPLAYER=USA....see above

WP3=UK, UK players, good skillfull players, common interest, result=happiness for us hard core gamers...

Sure they have problems..who doesn't.but IMO they work hard to rectify it and constantly try to improve the service.

FOR A 1 YEAR OLD COMPANY, YOU GUYS ARE DOING VERY WELL.......and I should know.........nuff said.....
