How the **** do u kill a lich?

Because i've met 2 now and both simply rip me into tiny little pieces in about 5seconds. Not just killing half my party but exploding them so they can be revived! Every weapon i have except one is ineffective, what should i be using?

i've now killed 4 lich's, just load up on modifying spells aand let rip with all your party maikng sure you cast Breach to get rid of some of his magical defences, has worked for me sofar :)

I've only met the one, and I think I was a bit lucky - when he appeared my party was in a totally crap position (one theif near him, everyone else miles away). I just legged my main character (cavalier with the Holy Avenger) into combat with him - he did his funky Time Stop and pounded that character - but thanks to a large dose of magic resistance didn't do a great deal. He then summoned a fiend and the Time Stop wore off, so I solo'd the lich while the rest of the party hammered the fiend - he took me to about 14 hits left but he did die.

I don't think that's the ideal way to approach it though - and I think there are harder liches later on :{

there are 2 lich's that guard parts of a golden skeleton,when you have both parts you take them to a third lich who is harder then the 2 previous lich's who were hard anyway,and when you kill him he becomes harder still,maybe the toughest monster in the game he tosted my lich/dragon killing party ;(

the demi lich is a real bitch, took me a while to figure out but once you kill him you'll love the item he drops
