How do i kill stone golums? they have magical restisance (making my main char sorta pointless) And my weapons don't hurt it... anyhelp?

You need magic weapons, +2 or better - and I think blunt weapons are more effective (though any +2 ought to hurt them). For clay golems you need +2 (or better) blunt weapons - slashing/piercing won't harm them at all.

For the iron golem I have a feeling you need +3 or better, not 100% sure on that though....

I met an adamantite golem on my way down to Firkaag. to my shame, I didn't bother killing it as I had only one +3 weapon in my party and that was a dagger (called the Pixie *****!? Those BIS guys crack me up!) which did 1 point damage when it hit the golem. It would have taken a LONG time to finish him off, even if I hadn't been taking 70 damage every time it scored a critical hit.

Moriarty, not much hurts him - I was using the Flail of Ages with a potion of Fire Giant strength, and doing 2-4 damage per hit :{. He only took about 60 points of damage to kill though, it was just a case of standing in the doorway bashing away, with a cleric behind to heal the fighter if he got hit - it took ages, but wasn't as hard as I'd feared. And he's worth something like 35000 xp...

Hmm, thanks for the info - I'll know next time I take one on, anyway :) Hitting him with a few lower resistance spells might be a good tactic, don't you think?

Aye it would have been, if I hadn't just finished the tomb bit and used up just about every single spell I had - and I still had to face the dragon after the golem :{ (can't be having with going to sleep every time you use up 2 spells, just doesn't seem right)

I killed the Adamantium Golem by distracting it with a fire element so it attacked that and then rushing up with Minsc and my main character and pounding on it with the talking sword and the flail of ages. It went down without hitting either of my characters or getting off its poison cloud. I had lured out and killed the stone golem previously to this. That Golem Slow thing they cast that reduces your armour class is one pain in the ass.

I just stood outside the door with minsc throwing +3 axe at it, with my main charachter having the odd bash while aerie and jaheria healed him.

CrazyCrane: I completely agree about the resting, I try not to do it unless my characters are fatigued. Best way to cope with a lack of spells is to carry two or three scroll cases with you, so you have those powerful scroll spells to fall back on when melee fails.

Incidentally, I have met the talking sword, and it wants me to remove the wards on it. However, I only have one of the keys, the lovers' ring. No spoilers please, all I want to know is: are all the other ward keys found in the same sector as the ring? Or are they scattered about all over Athkatla, or even throughout the game? If the latter, how do I tell when something I've picked up is a ward key?

Cheers,
Mori

All the pieces of the puzzle are in that map section.

The talking sword is extremley powerful if you get it right near the start of the game. Got rid of it tho, cos i now have minsc wielding the Vorpal Sword, and my main char has the Holy Avenger :D

Thanks a lot, TaRo :)

The only artifact I have all (well, both) the parts for is the Gesen bow, and I haven't the foggiest idea where to find this dwarf called Cromwell they keep mentioning :{

I killed the adamatite golem by keeping it in the bottlneck entrance, which it is too big to get through. Then i let Minsc kill it single handed by lobbing his +3 throwing axe at it.

Personally i find the mind flayers/ulitharids and beholders more annoying than golems.

LOL Mori It's not like U to not pay attention to text. his house is on the eastern side in the docks district, next to ma'vere guild house.

If you look on the map his house is marked for u as Cromwells houose.

D'OH! :(

*ahem* thank you. But when do I get back to Athkatla anyway? I'm now in the Underdark and my movements have been dictated entirely by the game since the beginning of chapter 4.

Aha! If you're in the underdark you may be able to answer something for me...

SPOILER for anyone who hasn't done it yet....

is there anything needing doing in the Southern Tunnels? I had a little wander about in there and the ridiculous number of Beholders scared me off somewhat (I think I counted over 30 of them, I know there were rooms with 5 plus some Gauths). I've done the mind flayer bit which was hard enough, and there was part of the Equiliser in there - do you know whether there's anything similar in the southern tunnels?
