RIGHT!!!!
A DS-9 Actress starred in an american comedy pilot. It was a blatent copy of an CLASSIC British comedy. It flopped in the States but had a cult following here.
Name the actress, and the comedy..The part she played is obvious with the other two answers.

Terry Farrell, played Dax in DS9 and Cat in the US version of Red Dwarf.

Yup...got it in one...
but I'd forgotten that she played the Cat...DOH
played in 1992 and joined DS9 the year later.
The pilot was never aired I found out...BUT if the series had taken off, would we have had another actress to play Dax???
