through the game i have noticed that certain items have gone missing though did'nt think too much of it, thinking that perhaps i sold it by mistake, until recently i just started a game and noticed that My holy avanger had gone walkabouts, I would never have sold this item as it is always equiped in a quick item weapon slot.I have read on the BG dungeon forums that quite a few people have had items go missing, a few people have said it may be part of a spell cast on your party like feeblemind making you drop it, though i can find no reference to any such effect in the manuals and i have never noticed it saying i have dropped a item. Anyone wish to throw some light on the subject. It seems my holy avanger is lost for ever ;(

I don't know about Feeblemind, but the seventh level Priest spell Earthquake lasts for three rounds and has a chance each round of making you drop your weapon. I'd have thought the weapon ought to be retrievable afterwards, though.

I m8 of mine has informed me that when a PC dies,their quick items disappear; but thats on BG and TOTSC......just a possability .Or are items disappearing from aother slots in the inventory................he also told me that in BG the game unpauses when you access the inventory:(

LOL!!
The game is supposed to unpause when you access the inventory. This prevents you from rummaging around in your backpack in the middle of combat.
Does this not happen in BG2?

No, BG2 is paused on all interface screens, but you're not allowed to change armour during combat.
I'm encountering a similar problem with Aerie and Nalia losing their mage robes. I paid over 10,000 GP for that Robe of the Good ArchMagi, and now it's disappeared!

I lost all the robes/scrolls/flamable stuff Aerie was wearing/carrying when she got burned by an Efreeti, although i would guess this is meant to happen to items that can burn. :)

ive heard that it has something to do with the quick save option. ppl are finding that if they quick save at certain times when they reload they dont have their items anymore. i dont know if this is true but for somereason my flail of ages has disapeared, i dont give a s*!t about it because none of my guys used it seeing as they werent proficient in it.

I've found that after reloading a quick save 9 times out of 10 my main character has all his hit points back. Not complaining about that though. :)

Are you all saying that if, for instance, you mysteriously loose your +2 armour, your amour class stats take this into account and readjust them selves or do you simply loose the icon and the stats remain the same?

The item goes, along with any AC, THAC0 or whatever bonuses you may have had. One of my mages (either Nalia or Aerie, I forget which) had an AC of -1 wearing a robe and some bracers, then the next time I checked both were gone and her AC was at 6. Spooky.

yeah My aerie has been the biggest hit by lost items mainly armour and robes(which there seems to be a shortage of in this game unlike bg1)though as far as my holy avenger goes i had a saved game thank god which i made at the start of chapter 6 though thats still took me back a days play :(

I've just had this happen too, and I was gutted - I'd just found the second part of the Gesan bow, went to stick it in my inventory - and realised the first part had gone walkies :(. Along with that some pretty good armour, a load of scrolls etc. - not pleased.
Something one person mentioned was the talking sword - apparently it's cursed, and one of the things it does is "eat" magical items. It could have been this, although I'd have expected it to only take items from the character equipped with it, not from anyone else...
Either way, it's fecking annoying - now I don't know whether to go back a chapter and a half to retrieve all the stuff I lost, or try to continue and hope I can survive with half my party on ridiculously high AC... :{

not happened to me, but you should just get shadowfactor from here (http://www.mud-master.com/shadowkeeper/) as its a gr8 editor and you can just add your items back... hope that helps
