Does anybody know how to set up a dial-up server in Win98 when using an internal ISDN card instead of a modem.
Trying to configure a dial-up server from the dial up networking window results in Windows looking for a modem to be installed. As I have ISDN, I don't have a modem, so is there anyway of configuring Windows to find the ISDN card?
Any help appreciated :)

The short answer is no. The modem has to have another modem at the other end to understand it (this could be a normal modem or a device with digital modem cards such as an access server or router). I'm not sure whats the cheapest equipment you can get away with to do it but I would expect to be paying no less than £200 for something that will do the job.

Thanx for the reply BeelzebubUK, m8 :)
Hmmm OK, lets try a different question...
I've got an ISDN internal card in my PC, is it possible to configure my PC to let my m8 (who's PC also has an ISDN internal card) dial into my PC for some one on one gaming? i.e. the equivalent of a modem to modem connection, but with ISDN.
Can it be done, and if so, how?
i thought windows viewd isdn cards AS modems, ie, mine appears in the modem lists. in fact in control panel/modems, there my isdn 64k adaptor !?!?!?!?!
(i maybe missing point)

No, you haven't missed the point Flake, my ASUS card doesn't appear in the modem list and therefore when I try to configure a dial-up server I can't select a device to use. Is there anyway of getting Windows to treat my ISDN card as a modem? It currently appears as a Network Adapter in the devices list.
Strange, my Asus card appears as an ISDN adapter in the modem list. When you installed your drivers did you try adding a modem and looking for it? There is a thread on here from way back which told you how to install it as a modem (still works at 64k ISDN) it was posted by [OAP] SAGA_Lout. Try a search

I'm not sure about ISDN to ISDN. It can be done with a router to router connection. You'd have to have some software that bypassed windows dial-up server but I've never seen anything. I'll have a look at work tomorrow.

Thanks for the help guys :)
Randell - I found the thread you were refering to, cheers m8. I let Windows detect the card as a new PnP device when I installed it, so I didn't explicitly install it as a modem. I'll give it a try at the weekend and see what gives.
