ive now had 2 failed line tests due to noise and interference (everything else OK) but cant get anyone to tell me where the fault lies so i can get it sorted out. I have been going round in circles for 3 weeks now and am at breaking point. Line length OK twice, but told today it was too far and when i pointed out that it cant have stretched in a week was told "sorry, we got confused.."!!!

apparently public cant speak to the BT ADSL engineer department only through Openworld. They are going to check it manually but cant tell me when - could be in 1 week's time (my install date was 3rd oct and then 16th oct) if they can get round to it!!! What a shambles. Anyone know any tips to get them the specialist ADSL engineers to come round and sort it out please?? Or any tips at all.

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!
:bigcry:

Yeah I'm having a nightmare with BT too. I've been waiting since April to get it. They never reply to my calls ro emails. Today I finally got through. I know I can't get it yet because of Home Highway. But I wanted them to uninstall HH and then start my order again. Within the last few days they have intorduced a charge of £99 to uninstall it!!!!!

Or I can have a second line for £49 installed.

BT have totally lost the plot imo. If I could get cable modem in my area I would have dumped them long ago.

Early days for me (got the ADSL go-ahead today but still awaiting install and last on-site line check)

But after waiting 15 months (honest!) for ADSL, in late September I finally got an "install" date of October 12.

Rang to confirm line test early in October and they (Openworld) said line distance was ok, but there were problems relating to "capacity".

Turns out capacity seems to be a reference to line noise etc, NOT the ADSL bandwidth at exchange (as I thought), and they (Openworld) promised to send a BT engineer to local exchange (SE London) to run a second line test.

Today this came back okay (hallelujah!) so it looks like all systems go!

What I'm trying to say, in a roundabout way, is to push your potential ISP/provider to ask for a SECOND line test at the actual exchange itself.

I was turned down first time round, then engineer went along to the exchange and I got the go-ahead after second test (on site). This took 48-hrs, but in my case it was well worth the wait (hopefully).

Anyway, having gone through the mill myself (see previous posts) I'm really keeping my fingers crossed for you :)

Best of luck - Confused (Q3F) :)
