After speaking to BT "Techincal hahahahaha" they inform me that Windows 98se function of Internet Connection Sharing will work but they don't know how. Bit dumb really!

I had to ask because I've already got 2 PC's running on 1 56k modem and when I get ADSL (26/10) I will be doing the same!!!!

Pretty easy as all it does is bind the ICS protocol to the shared device and sets up a sort of proxy and VLAN and plays with NAT.

If it works on my modem then it WILL work on ADSL or ISDN.

Right. I had innumerable problems trying to get ICS to work with ADSL. My final solution was to use sygate 3.0 which does the job fine. However if you have had previous ICS experience then you might have more luck...but i asked sooo many people, and they couldn't see what was wrong...

Sygate 3.0 is cool tho'.

Not quite that simple Titus as ICS binds protocols on a network card and dial-up adapter. The ADSL USB device is neither. I'm still sure I'll get it working, once my line is actually working and I'll post any results here.

Good idea.

I will also try once its installed - I am sure this thread will be interesting to those of us who have more than one PC and want to share the bandwidth.

- ADSL Devices

For a external ADSL device, the ADSL device requires a network adapter in the Host computer. This configuration requires two network adapters to be installed in the machine, one for the cable modem and one for the LAN.

For a external ADSL device connection, the following components should be listed in Network Properties for the Host

- TCP/IP(Shared)->Network Adapter1
- TCP/IP(Home)->Network Adapter2

where the TCP/IP(Shared) is the network adapter connected to the ADSL device, and TCP/IP(Home) is the network adapter connected to the LAN.

NOTE: For an internal ADSL device, the ADSL device uses the standard Dial-Up Adapter to connect to the Internet.

Internal ADSL devices should function the same as a standard dial-up networking connections.

Ask for more info if required.
