OMG a forum where the only topic listed is a WP announcement????? C'mon!!! I know Sid has been a bit quiet since Alien Crossfire but this is ridiculous :P

On a serious note tho-do many ppl play Alpha Centauri/Alien Xfire online/ I'd love to try a game but can never seem to find one?;)

Aplha Centauri can be played on-line. It has its very own website: http://www.alphahq.net

tho when I tried it today the site was down. Blame ea tho, cos it loads from their servers :)

I haven't really moved to playing mud, it was more of an expansion :E

I think the reason not many people play it is cos firstly you can't play it on Wireplay, although they did try to get it to work, and that the people who play on Alphahq are damn good!

Oh well.. :{

I thought I'd try an find out why AlphaHQ no longer seemed to work, so after looking at some of the community fan sites I came across a quick news post at The Alpha Centauri Nexus (http://acn.sidgames.com/#-375) Which reads:

AlphaHQ Closed!

After a long time spent with Alpha HQ, the official matchmaking service for Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri, supposively being investigated with a security breach, I visited the site today to find that Electronic Arts has decided to shut the service down. It's popularity definately has waned over the time since SMAC has been released, however it served as a convenient meeting place for all hard core players looking for a game. What will this mean for the future of multiplayer SMAC? No one can know for sure.

so that will answer your question :{
