Dragons and crash

well ive been on a few forums and i have to say that allot of people are complaining about the amount of time the game is crashing. Nothing has happened to me but...
last night i was on the firrkarg or what ever his name is quest and i found all the anti dragon stuff and thought yeeee haaa, time for some dragon slaying..
got down into the chamber, had my character hdie in shadows and creep behind the dragon... then all of a sudden my machine stops....!!!!!!!!! It then says something about bgexe messing up. so i think reload... do that and i cant even load my quick save. or autosave.. or normal save...
but i can load (after reinstalling bgII) one of my flatmates games, i then quit and can play any save that was before the dragon encounter. has this happened to any of you? My computer isnt that good is that the problem?

its crashed a few times for me during busy fight scenes with 500 spells being cast at once.... but i figured it was jsut my ageing PC being lazy and refusing to make all those dice rolls :imu:

Mine crashes sometimes, usually when the system is overtaxed. I pretty much expect it because I only have a P200 with 32MB RAM. BGII will greedily eat up all the RAM you've got and still ask for more.

What's got me really pissed off tonight has nothing to do with crashes though... it's cut scenes. I love the cut scenes they've done all through Chapter 4, but I kept forgetting to save and then getting mullered (or having the game crash) soon afterwards, which means I've seen them all several times now. I mean, I've taken to nipping off for a sandwich and a cuppa while I wait for the drama to play itself out.

Oh, and the latest horror has been Imoen getting petrified by a trap, and she was carrying all the stone to flesh scrolls so that didn't help much :mad: three hours' play lost if I want to keep her :mad:
