How much LAN experience have all you guys had?

This is the first post from the [HoD} Clan and we look forward to fraggin' all you guys at the LAN

The question is... Have any of you other clans played over LAN's before or do you practice over one... cause it's very different when the pings are all even??

HoD are very used to LAN play and practice regullary.

One last thing... D1-UK are gonna get crushed... they are our arch-enimies. And LO to abomb and his crew, i'm afraid we're gonna have to cream you guys too :)

I go to The Playing Fields™ regularly;

Me and my clan all bring our computers over and network;

I have my own 5 computer network at home;

well i never played on a lan but i know squidgy has, but we don't need parccie were all lpbs, so it should be That much different.

hello stumpy nice to see HOD posting on the forums, we have a reasonable amount of practise on the lan and i would agree there is a huge gap for any person who has a 56k or lower modem who has pings of 180 and upwards when they get on to a lan with a ping of about 20 where there is no lag,
i personally have isdn and do really well on the internet but when we get on to the lan i only just do better than a couple of the guys in my clan because of the speed difference, so i think this tournament will be great fun.

I love playing online and I love playing at lanarena but the biggest difference is not the ping rate or even that everyone is playing on the same spec machines. Its seeing the face on a camper as he gets shot in the back. Its seeing your mates in your clan when you win a tough domination. Its being together in the same room having a laugh after.

Am I wrong or what?

I am looking forward to the chance of Fragging the players i've being competing against for the last few months... But i hope the ppl realise that there is a difference even between ISDN and LAN play... i have ISDN myself and regularly come top of the PCG server (thats another things where the hell are the PCG boyz, scared of the competition???) but it's very different when our clan gets together for a LAN...

So what are you guys saying, you find your better on a LAN after playing on the net or worse?

I have only played on a LAN once and found I was better than on the net, coz on the net Im allowing for lag all the time.

All i'm saying is that a LAN game is very differnet to a net game... on a LAN you won't see two ppl meet and both fire there enitre clips and no one die... anyone with half descent aim on a LAN can kill you with 5 bullets from the assualt rifles. And it gets rid of the fact that most servers players scores seem to be ranked by ping... you get your T1 guys at the top then ISDN then 56k... i just wanna see how these LPB's fare when there advantage is removed

well were in the WPCSL, and i think were in the new seaon of the UKCCL.

As to how LPB's will perform once there disadvantage is removed, as an lpb i love my low ping, but i started off on a winmodem, and got into my clan on a 56k 200 ping, so i ain't no ping player!

We aren't in any leagues we never seem to all be able to meet for a competition, so we just play online and enjoy, I'm a 56K user and I sit at the top of the boards on the net with the lpbs, I can hack them, I just hope it doesn't take me long to get used to the LAN, otherwise it's knockout time for us boys, and then lots of bar time.

Um, me and |SA| have had a LAN every weekend for the last 2 years. I think that's where we have a major advantage! :)
And as for all you LBPs who have never played on a LAN - You are in for a damn good kicking :)
