Please be kind enough to spare 20 seconds ......
I'm just about to have Home Highway installed (after failing adsl line tests) I need to get an internal or external TA .... Can anyone suggest which is the BEST one to get - BRAND and MODEL. Price is not (too within reason) much of an issue.
I understand some of them allow u to add a normal modem for faxes etc. I dont need a rolls royce, but i would at least like to have the BMW of TA's.
Any comments on internal/external? Please give a specific model if possible ... and not just 'Asus' in case i end up getting the worst they have ... knowing me!
THANK YOU, VERY MUCH, IN ADVANCE.

Gone for HH too eh?
Was a little worried when they said I needed a line test 1st. But fortunately I passed and it's due for install Friday :)
I've gone for an ASUS jobby, £20 + p&p from http://www.insight.com. I've heard that the ASUS one is second best only to the DIVA, but the DIVA costs £50+.

Well looks like I have to go HH route to if I want lower gaming pings! Openworld chaps says I should ask for a re-route but no one else seems to have been able to get this done! So are they gonna drop the monthly cost of ISDN, I mean why should we pay the same monthly rate as those lucky few ADSL'ers??? Should I dip my feet in the HH pond or should I wait until :- (a) HH gets cheaper? (b) They improve ADSL distance, and can connect me?
Your thoughts would be helpfull...
Yer the Pussy is right. I have a Asuscom TA and is not only one of the cheapest but also one of the best.
In Quakeworld via BW into a WP server
I have managed to get a 37 ping on a 0845 ISP and 42 ping on a 0800 ISP.

Oh my tiny brain !
I just dont know whether to go for the Asus or Elcon.
I know I'll use the SCIENTIFIC APPROACH now, let me see..
'Dip, Dip, sky blue , who's it not you?

Slowly, but surely, cracking up.
You should look at the Eicon Diva 2.01 Internal card.
It is what I have, most of my m8es have ASUS internals and I get much better pings than them on same ISP, sometimes as much as 15-20 m/s betta :)
U should also look into getting hold of a libertysurf CD.
They are a great ISP for games, they don't support MLPPP, but you get fookin good pings with em', and only £20 a year for unmetered off-peak access, £50 for 24/7!!!!
hope that helps

Hi jay, I believe I recommended you the eicon diva as I have it already, maybe I didnt sound knowledgable or whatever but I really can recommend it and, yes it is slightly better than the asus, but is offset by being £50 instead of 30 includng delivery, but hey? BMW well the choice is clear to me...hehe, tam8 kalimera...

Thanks for your input kalimera,
Yes, you did recommend the Elcon diva , what confused me was - when I logged on to the pc world site to view the models, they had EIGHT of them !
There were a few I could ignore such as External, USB, or ISA, but it still left a few choices.
Also I think u mentioned 1.1 whereas the current model I believe is 2.1 which of course is newer, but I couldn't be sure its as good.
I remember when things were easier, and the only form of recreation was Ludo or Snakes & Ladders!
THANKS FOR YOUR HELP anyway, mate!
This is a lovely forum, filled on the whole, with kind, helpful people. I hope to meet some of you in games .... but don't expect me to be soft with you!
I feel like hugging you all,
Best regards,
Jay-uk
