Q2Central: It aint Kansas Anymore

Yup you guessed it Q2C (Quake2Central) has had a *major* overhaul and a larger expansion than Attilla on a weekend jaunt. Not only has Q2C been radically redesigned by the infamous "Collective" Design team, but the major Admin Q2 resource the Q2C database has been integrated into the site and given a lubbly new public interface with clan details, player lists, player stats and geekability galore.

Add to this new WPDML, WPFFA, WP2v2 League sites (with new material and updates on leagues) but also new Q2 Resources such as the demodepot, Aph's Skinbank and a WP Server browser and launcher. On top of this there is more (and updated) content (notably the new RvR mod soon be seen on the Wireplay Mod server), and all this accessible from the one page. A new PHP publishing system allows all 20 Officals to update their news and columns far more quickly on site giving those itinerant gossipers Mad 'Arry and Auntie Dementia further scope for their troublemaking comments.

Q2C now also boasts its own fast PHP driven forums with a staggering array of inane, sick, nasty and downright obscene smileys.

Finally Q2C already hosts several league sites (AQ2), general resources (demodepot) and clan sites (V, Q2L) and will now be opening the doors further. Mainly for new clans and new people to the community (but open to all) Q2C offers personalised forums, unlimited webmail addresses, and automated unzip publication tool, personalised news publishing systems and 5MB of web Space, and with up to 7000 hits a day coming to the main site (Clan Vnow have 100,000 hits), together with help and advice from a team of web experts.. all for free.

AQ2 will continue till G/P pull the plug i will allways be here
the emails i have sent have been complaints about the servers and lack of genral support for AQ2 in the past and present but as i see it this is paying off slowly but surely
and more G/P peeps are actully now seeing us .
as for C/S yep ppl are drifting off but the allways come back :E .
just not allways to W/P :( as the server preformance is better on B/W and basicly a lot more places !

If you look at AQ2 on WP it has always been a niche thing anyway. Its just the structure of AQ2 on WP hasnt been overwelmingly strong to encourage peeps to have a go, as the existence of it was pretty much shrouded in mystery. One case in piont was when WP moved to the GP website all existance of AQ2 vanished.

Peeps still play AQ2 alot but take the last week 90% of the time, peeps were playing on other servers like BW, for the simple fact the performance on the wp aq2 servers was bad.

Its all too understanable that WP will fully support new HOT up and coming games, but my view is if certain games had the proper support and backing, peeps would play them more than rather been semi-forced to play it somewhere else or move on to the supported stuff.

Clearly the void that Q2 and AQ2 were left in for a time has done more damage to them, then peeps drifting off to other games.

And Sar I dont know about other peeps but playing the same game all the time ie CS would bore me silly, especially been the type of game it is. Alright I enjoy playing some games better than others due to my poor computer specs, but I have always been one to play different mods of games.

I'm the same m8, which is why I always buy plenty of games in other genres also (ATM I'm playing the Blair Witch game (Ep1) and I'm going to be re-installing Deus Ex tonight - :monkee: Island 4 looks top as well).

And I play RA3 an obscene amount, and it has a similiar rounds structure to CS, but I haven't got bored in anyway of it yet :)

Doing the same thing Sar; specially with Q3 mods, nearly half a gig in just mods now =P. WFA is a lot of fun and so is RA3, Q3f a bit poor though =/ Wish it wasn't but still...

yeah Q3F is a pile of pants unfortunately. The HL version was quite good, pity they couldn't reproduce the same game

And my Q3 folder is currently 1.5Gbs :)

Might give WFA a whirl as well, sounds good enough :P

And BG2 is getting bought week after next.
