ok i live in wales. (grrrrr) sad but true. BUT i gotta live it. i want faster net but well isdn suks far as im concerned.adsl? yeahhhhhh great! in like 10 years bloody time. so what about satellite? anyone able to give me some info on it and whatever? i dont live in cardiff or swansea btw. i live in the god damn sticks.

From what ive been told, satelite connections are ok - they work by connecting alongside your modem and then d/l stuff faster than the modem. Trouble is, what goes up must come down again - by this i mean that there is about 1 sec in latency times (ie lag in games) so if you fancy a bout of CounterStrike then dont be suprised when your still getting pings of around 160-200 (which your modem will give ya, not the Satelite)

Also as with any sat link it's dependent on the weather.So if it's chuckin'it down as is often the way in this fair Island you loose your connex. Remember snowy pictures on sky when it rained?

yeh i want to give satellite a shot as what i want is fast dl times and weba ccess. i know the upload times suck and thus quake (which im addicted to :) will suck. but my addiction has caused me to get rsi so i cant really play anyway :( but if the dl's speeds i get are like at least 50k/s ish then ill get it! i mean 15 euros??!!! i only get 45 a week (counil-trainee-sucks!hehe) but even i can afford 15 euros a month! well if any one else can spread some light on satellite access please do :) is there anyone out there who HAS satellite?? really like to know what its like if ya do,

whoever it was, they were wrong m8. My mate that has it was saying that he gets just 20k/sec but that is still 4 times what i get but i dont think its worth the hassle
