View Full Version : ADSL Extension Cable?
I'm (hopefully) getting ADSL installed early next month and I've got a problem I hope some of you guys with ADSL could help me out with.
My phone socket is about 10m away from my computer and I don't want to relocate either the phone socket or the computer.
I was wondering does the BT engineer who supplies the modem provide you with an extension cable or will I have to buy one myself?
Help... :)

Had an update from BT, they say that the modem must be no more than 30 metres from the socket (no worries there) and that any splitter I have must be no more than 6 metres away, which is ok for me also. So you have all been warned
I wasn't refering to fitted telephone extensions.
I actually use a 10m modem cable to connect my computer to my phone socket.
I know the ADSL modem comes with a 2m cable my question really is - will the BT engineer supply the necessary cable length for me or will I have to pay BT to fit an actual extension with socket?
Has anyone with ADSL already fitted used or been given anything other than the standard 2m connection cable length?
I know where I can get a 10m length of DSL compatible cable I just don't want to have to buy it if it's provided free anyway.

Don't worry they will have extra cable with them. Talking with the BT engineer the modem can be up to 30m away from the socket (Mines 6-7m, due to a intresting phone arrangment). The engineer comes with with 30m of extra cable (Well mine did any way) so you should have no problems.
Thanks Turbo :)
Thats what I wanted to know :)
