What's the deal with hackers??? Why must they do what they do?? And why the hell can't they leave me alone!!! I have a message board which was hacked..and now it's been password protected and maybe even deleted...Grr...What a pissoff!!!!

I been asking myself why they do it. Maybe they get some kind of power trip. Truth is its a very sad and childish thing to do. Seeming that hackers can disable or even destroy a PC which may have cost over £999.
Btw r u sure it was hacked and that u hav'nt been infected with a trojan? this would allow the person to get information off your pc, including passwords for web sites and other important details. if someone sends u a file don't install with out scanning it with a anti-virus tool. I would list the trojan/hacking programs i know to make u aware what they do but it would lead to some moron searching for them on the net.
Have u installed a firewall? if not get one.
Theres plenty about, also I Think D3D has his own site for security programs wich if i remember has ratings for each program.
U may have done everything right and they just got lucky. But take note of the above they got me once......
 why can't hackers just burn in hell?

The Z sites old now, don't update it, don't deal with security any more....
Look, if your getting bothered by hackers, well, they're not hackers, they're usually trojan using lamers, then follow these steps:
Don't open or run strange attachments on emails or icq, CHECK all ICQ files then get sent to you before you open them!, even graphics and soundfiles. Anything can have a trojan mixed into it so nothing it safe.
Get a firewall, most of them are not difficult to use, it's just a matter of turning it on, tweaking a few settings and wolla.
I suggest ZoneAlarm for free
Or BlackICE, this isn't free but if you want to be very secure it's very good.

Try not to save and store passwords on your computer / in cookies.. If you can remember them great, write them down if need be but just don't stick em on your wall with the message "MY SECRET PASSWORDS" written above them..
Don't use stupid passwords like
"password" "secret" "god" "hahaha"
If possible, try to use passwords with numbers and letters, this stops MOST brute force programmes as well as being 100x arder to crack.
For example:
Elite
becomes
3l1t3
Password
becomes
P4ssw0rd
etc, etc...
( Qui's the master is th1s 0h s0 l33t t4lk ;) )
Try to use different passwords for different things, this way, if some idiot does get one of your passwords, he doesn't have access to everything.
As for your message board...
.... obviously someones got hold of your password..
Try finding a trojan cleaner on the internet, scan your system, a virus checker will do it too... A good one that is.
If you run a firewall then it should stop people from accessing your system with trojans even if you are infected..
oops did'nt know about the webby m8 sorry long time no speak:)
Only problem with having a different password for everything is that this is virtually impossible these days with nearly everything on the net requiring a username and password. One good method (I learnt this off velvet) is to have 3 (or more) passwords ranging in security. Use one for general crappy things where it isn't a huge problem if someone else gets hold of it. The next one should be used for important stuff and keep the last for securre sites only (like e-commerce) so there's virtually no chance of anyone getting hold of it.

hmmmm, recently a few EZ Board sites have been playing up, some people have been going onto the to find themselves with administrator powers....
What D33 said.
If they do something damaging to you and your just a normal bloke they are wee boys with scripts.
If you don't know anyones been in and nothing has changed, then its possible its a proper fella, but unless your important they ain't going to bother with you.
