Paper is far better as there is more room to adapt the game to encompass the players' ideas, there's a social interaction and if people are up for it it could go on for years! Also, for me its very hard to actually 'role-play' in a computer run game: you can take a general course of action e.g. 'my characters good/ nice' but can't develop any little kwirks (?) such as having an aversion to yellow that really give your character 'life' beyond you just projecting yourself into another world.
But I can't role-play

Played the following games:
Table top:
Rifts (and run)
Mystic China
Mage: The Ascension (and run)
Vampire: The Masquerade
Shadowrun
GURPS
Babylon Project
AD&D (including the new 3rd edition)
Live:
Mage
PC:
Baldur's Gate
Baldur's Gate 2
Vampire: The Masquerade - Redemption
System Shock 2
Deus Ex
Final Fantasy III
Final Fantasy VII
Final Fantasy VIII
Pokemon (and yes - it is a roleplaying game)
I'm also writing Rifts supplements and a whole new game system - play testers may be useful HINT HINT ;)

Okay here goes:
AD+D 2nd and 3rd (GM) (Played an Int 4 character for 3 yrs 10 hrs/week)
Shadowrun 2nd and 3rd (GM)
Star Wars (GM)
Rifts
Toon (GM)
Dark Conspiracy (GM)
Millenium's End
Call of Cthulu
Legend of the 5 Rings (Nice change from AD+D)
Suzerain (Playtester)
Star Trek Orginal and New
Cyberpunk
BTW I agree its better playing rpg's with freinds. Lot more chance to develop characters. (See the Int 4 Lvl 10 fighter for details)
PS Some of the things heard while playing.
What does an Unseen Servant look like?
No worries got a climb walls skill of 95%. This wall will be no problem.
Oh wasted youth!
Pendragon
CoC
Middle Earth
AD&D
D&D
Paranoia
WFRP
Earthdawn
Gamma World
Cyber Punk
Space Master
Wraith
Vampire

How anyone can post in THIS forum and say that original i.e. before computers were invented (in my case anyway) RPG is sad ... pfft...
Get out of here, go-on...shoo
Yes I played them...didn't have a PC to compete with ;)
We spent many a night crowded onto my mates bedroom floor with D&D, whilst his big brother blared Led Zep outa the hi-fi.
AD&D, Call of Cthulu, Traveller, RuneQuest...and a few others that we dabbled at but cannot recall just now (was 20 years ago !!!)
Still got the books and stuff...always thoyght that one day maybe they would get used again...who knows...

I own Vampire: The Masquarade and I have played some other pen and paper RPG but thats it ;(
I played Warhammer - great game! You can _really_ get into it. We played both with paper and a GM, and also with the little models where you have skirmishes. My l337 force was the Sisters of Battle. I painted them all myself :E (cheezy grin!)....
