Kicked off our multiplayer BG2 on Sunday morning - everything went pretty well (apart from the odd badly aimed lightning bolt from our over-enthusiastic priest of talos ;)).

Were exiting the city to go on our first quest, when we popped into the inn by the city gate and spotted a secret door.

"Oooh, what's this?" We all thought and our thief promptly picks the lock...then we all pile in, to find, a fecking Lich!

Heh, total chaos ensues - we all bundle out, Lich chases us into the inn and casts Gate - we're all then dodging a pissed off Lich and his pet Pit Fiend. Top comedy.

Oh...and yes half the party did die :)

I found the best way to kill lich's is to cast modifying/protection spells, when the lich has cast his protection spells dispell his magic and hack him to death, though its still not easy :monster:

Time Stop can be a bitch especially when they stick a wail of the banshee on you, I usually set my party a way back from the lich and approach with my best fighter, Korgan, he resists most spells then a quick breach and voila 1 dead lich.

my method:
cast as many magic protection/magic resistance spells as you can on a fighter who has a magic reflection cloak thingy and an armour class of at least -10 and send him in with a few potions of healing/invulnerability type of thing. Send him in by himself - he should survive several minutes of spell casting after which he can hit the thing with his big sword...just about works if u can find the right items... any1 else found a better way?
