Right here is my dilema, I have a Cable & Wireless phone line and tv, however C&W were bought up by NTL and I now cannot get a cable modem for almost a year while NTL 'upgrade' the C&W network.
Which just sucks.
So I am thinking about getting ADSl, however i need a bt phone line for that, at the moment we have 2 phne lines, one for the PC, and one for the normal phone. Would it be possible for me to cancel the NTL phone line for the pc, get a bt phone line in and get ADSL on that?
Am i right that adsl goes thru a normal phone line?
And how much would all this cost me?
thanks very much, Mozza

Mozza,
afaik you could get rid of your cable line and just use your existing BT line for both internet and phone use at the same time.

As long as you are within distance of the local exchange and your line passes the tests for noise(?) then you should be fine.

The cost is £150 instalation and around £40 a month flat-rate.

With BT there is quite a long wait for it to be installed (i was told between 2-3 months at least) but was told about Eclispe Networking ( http://www.eclipse.net.uk ) and they quoted between 5 and 10 days :)
Now im due to have adsl on monday mornin and 90% of the wait for me was to get the bt line put in in the first place :)

Have a looksy on http://www.btopenworld.com to see if you can get adsl in your area.

Good luck fella

Mozza, I work for NTL and we were told last week that cm had to be up and running by X Mas. Its a bit optomistic as we have a lot of upgrades to do but, it will be sooner rather than later.
