Just popped in to mock you, you really serious about wrestling? What is it that makes it interesting to you lot? Just bored and wondered....

The thing that got me into wrestling was the cruiserweight wrestlers in WCW. The moves that they were able to pull of left me gob-smacked the technical ability of these guys is truly amazing.

It really pisses me off when people take the piss out of wrestlers.
These are guys who put their lives on the line at least twice a week, (maybe more if they wrestle house shows) for the whole year.
If they get a move even slightly wrong it could result in a serious injury.

- A guy in WCW broke his ankle this week after landing a monkey flip wrong.

But the thing I really admire about these guys is that they are nearly always working hurt. The Hardy Boys are a prime example of this. Do they complain like a footballer? No they just get on with the job until the next time.

It also annoys me when they are called fakes…
Its just the same as the movies, the stars of the movie don’t die do they when they get shot etc, but they ain’t called fakes…

The story lines may be far fetched but there a damn lot better than those of Eastenders and the women look better don’t ya think?

You said it Big Al, I don't think there's any need for anyone else to follow up on that, pretty much cover's it in my view.

Hardcore Holly had the same injury problem, most of us know that his left wrist was broken in a match with Guerrero (i think) a couple of months ago, yet he still carried on for a good 3 minutes before he was pinned. Not many other ppl would carry on in a physical competition like wrestling with a broken wrist, I was very impressed.

Yes, well said Big Al... A very valid and well-written response :)

I think if we actually made people watch the TLC match at Wrestlemania, for example, then they might get why we watch wrestling... It IS athletic, daredevil stuff for the most part...

People have preconceptions of "sweaty fat men in leotards pretending to hit each other" but today's wrestling can be a long way from that old image...

Just to correct you, -Parasite-...

Bob Holly sustained a badly broken left forearm against Kurt Angle. Kurt missed the Moonsault (quite a nice one as well) and came down full force on his left arm. He was pinned two minutes later and still kicked out of a few! The arm required a few steel pins to fix.

Just for the record and to re-iterate what has already been said, yes wrestling is MOSTLY fake. The emphasis is very important.

The whole thing is a display of interactive gymnastics, but the chair shots are real!! Obviously they are not steel because of the way they bend, and those tables are just pressed sawdust (the Americans call it particle board), but they are amazing gymnasts and athletes.

Could anybody you know make six performances of this nature a week for most of the year?

And there are a lot of injures as we've seen. As an example, the whole reason the WWF are running this (awful) Steve Austin run down plot is because he's been recovering from major neck surgery for 18 months.

How did he get this injury? Simple. The late, great Owen Hart buggered up a piledriver and legitimately dropped Austin on his head!

P.S. What's the matter with Chris Benoit? He is OFFICIALLY the best in the world.

The chair shots aren't really that hard m8. Also most of them are across the back, where it won't hurt. Lots of the face ones the wrestlers put their hands up to stop it hitting them.

The tables are flimsy bits of cardboard.

I think the move that would hurt most is the chop across the chest, cos they don't hold back with them, and leave a nice red mark :E

Tell that to Mankind at the 1999 Royal Rumble - that was distressing to say the least, having Mick handcuffed and unable to block the chairshots :(
