View Full Version : Whatever you do, don't hassle BT...
on top of my still unresolved exchange problem (now over two weeks since install) I have had my account with Openworld cancelled. It seems my complaining over the last couple of weeks has upset someone and it's far easier to get rid of me than fix my problem
That was all tongue-in-cheek of course, though I really did get my account cancelled. Oddly, they had 3 orders from me and cancelled all 3??? This should never happen of course because they have to have an email or fax to cancel an account, neither of which they have (or I had sent). Just one big shambles. I just wish I hadn't bothered with Openworld now. Seemed easier to keep it all under BTs wing, but when their departments never speak to each other and none of them do what they aer supposed to = one big b@lls-up.

h0mer, I have a similar problem...
My original install date was the 9th, but it was delayed a week coz of "exchange problems" but on the 16th they still didn't come round even tho I had my welcome pack saying they would. I keep phoning BT and asking them when I will get it installed, they say they will phone back, but never do so. I'm thinking of making an official complaint, once this is recieved they normally make you a priority.. but I don't know who to complain to, BT or OFTEL.. hmmm
Complain to BT saying you are going to raise the matter with OFTEL. Get a reference number, then complain to OFTEL.
Openworld themselves have raised a complaint, though I think only about the cancellations. I've complained verbally to BT too, and I also have several sheets of A4 detailing all the conversations I've had. I'm not going to send it until ADSL is iinstalled and working though as I suspect there will be lots more calls yet.
And you're right about them not calling back. I've been told by around 10 BT staff that they would investigate and call back without doing so. Funnily enough, they haven't sadi that lately, they just tell me to call later in the week or next week.
:homer:
When I had a fault in july...I reckon i was told 50-60 times (no joke) and only recieved 2 call-backs. My personal feeling is that this is absolutly appalling.
Errrrrr Jap your views please :(
Sorry to hear that Homer man

Such is life, but thanks BigD. At the end of the day I still have a connection, I can still work from home when I need to. The thing that annoys me is not so much that there is a fault it's:
a. complete lack of info on progress
b. lack of knowledgable staff
c. being lied to or being told somethingn different by everyone I speak to
d. having to do all chasing myself when it should be done in-house
Apart from that, I'm one happy chappy :)

h0mer, I know now what u mean. Just got off the phone to BT, BT, Openworld, BT, Openworld to find out the latest on my installation progress. It was provisionally set for 23rd A.M., so I was expecting to hear about my line test Friday or Monday at the latest given what I've read on these forums.
Rang order management who said that they DID have my order details and were just waiting on the line test result. They'd ring me with the result on one of the 2 numbers I gave 'em.
Rangat 18.10 today and finally got thru to the management desk after 1/2 hour waiting my turn. "Good News" says he, "Line test passed and the installation will be between 8.30 and 10am Monday, I'll post a welcome pack to you."
Whats the saying?
If you wan't a job doing properly, do it yourself
