View Full Version : Drivers on File Monster - which ones would you like to see?
A few people have suggested I should host drivers on File Monster - and after a particularly helpful E-Mail from Dr Kazza on the subject I reckon I'm ready to start a dedicated section.
What drivers would you like to see on the site? It's going to be relatively mainstream drivers only, as I don't have the time or intelligence to go digging up obscure motherboard drivers etc from manufacturers sites (you lot can go do that yourselves :P)
Here's what's on the list so far:
N-vidia Detonator Drivers
Direct X latest version
Soundblaster Live Drivers
Various 3DFX drivers
Any other drivers you want listed? Just pop in a reply below.
Cheers,

Fandabbydozie idea :E
Bah! at Dr Kazza for thinking of it - you'll put me outta business, but it's a good 'un all the same.
The ones listed above would be a great start as they are pretty much the 'standard' for most gamers. You could also consider the following drivers and/or links:
Video Cards
Matrox GXX series
Diamond Viper / Stealth
ATI drivers (Rage, Rage pro, 128, Maxx, Radeon etc)
Sound Cards
Videologic
Diamond
Modems
Diamond Supra Express
3com / US Robotics 56k drivers
It would also be nice to have access to diagnostic tools such as:
SiSoft Sandra 2000
3dMark 2000
Final Reality
Most of us mess with our PC's trying to tweak that extra bit of performance out of them. The tools above are essential for this purpose.
Of course, some of these can be found on magazine coverdisks and they can be downloaded from their own web sites. It always seems that I can find the magazine and CD case but not the CD with the program I want :dork:. It's also a pain in the :blitz: to download these files because of the slow download speed from the US. Files like the ones we've suggested would be ideally placed on File Monster.
It's a great idea and one that would help the community as a whole. Instead of having to trawl the net for the drivers and files they want, File Monster (consequently GamePlay) would be a first port of call.
I forgot to add above but when I add the Drivers bit I'll be adding a 'Utilities' section as well (basically because the front page of the site is organised into two columns so I need to add 2 sections rather than 1 :E)
I'll put those tweaking utilities you mentioned in there - plus old favourites such as mIRC etc.
Cheers,
Skunk

You should maybe try and make a special effort for those video cards that you sell yourselves, like the GF2 which I purchased off Gameplay. It would be nice to go to Filemonter and find the manufacture drivers for that card rather than just the Nvidia one.
Just a suggestion :)

Tubby, the nVidia Detonator drivers will work for all nVidia cards, and they will offer better performance than the various manufacturers drivers, as the manufacturers build their drivers using the nVidia ones.
Stocking up on the latest Detonator drivers is cetainly the best way to go.
