Sierra Studios announced today that Ground Control: Dark Conspiracy will be offered to consumers free of charge.

The official PC expansion, being developed by Chicago-based High Voltage Software, in conjunction with Swedish-based Massive Entertainment, will be given away to those in North America with the purchase of Ground Control or proof of Ground Control ownership and $4.95 shipping and handling. More information on Dark Conspiracy and this offer can be found at darkconspiracy.sierra.com.

Scheduled for release in November, Dark Conspiracy offers 15 new missions, never-before-seen environments and terrains, new playable units, new multiplayer modes and maps, and a third faction.

Hope we can get it free in the UK as well. Maybe as a download like the SWAT3 add-on?

wow, a real turn up for the books.

considering the size of the current game, i expect the dl (if it was a DL for us UK'ers) to be about 200 meg, considering the game is 600 for a full.

really suprising really, but then again, this is the software publisher that has made HL the probably most world famous game ever thanks to mods odds and sods :)

Suppose the downside is that Sierra maybe thought the add-on is not good enough to warrant a commercial release and decided to give it away for free :{

But if it's even half as good as the original it'll be worth playing.

EuroGamer has reveal that folks in the United Kingdom will get a better deal on the upcoming add-on Ground Control: Dark Conspiracy than their U.S. counterparts.

While folks in this country will be able to get the add-on to Massive's 3D RTS game through the mail for $4.95 shipping and handling and proof of purchase of the original game, people in the U.K. will only have to pay 99p (that's about 70 U.S. cents) to get the offical add-on.

Furthermore, the game will apparently be available for purchase in stores, with no mail in offer needed.

I couldn't find much confirmed details on this. I understand that its for a 'limited time only' so i'm not sure wether it then goes up to 15quid or sommit. Plus i heard a rumour that it was only 99p if you bought a copy of the original at the sametime. Guess we'll have to wait and find out :)

"99p (that's about 70 U.S. cents)"

Erm, 99p is about 1.58 Dollars. Someone converted the wrong way.
