View Full Version : All peeps with Openworld connection problems.
Can I get a list of people who are experiencing connection problems, which have not been sorted out to their satisfaction?
I personally have problems almost everry day, and I'm pissed. If I can get a list together, I will get in touch with OFTEL, Watchdog, Which Magazine, Value For Money on the BBC and The Register.
Also all peeps with problems phone the number in my tag and moan. The more that do, the more chance we have of receiving a service we can connect to.

Well add me to the list I'm totally pi$$ed off with BT`s attidude toward there customers with regards to ASDL. Been waiting 5 days to get an answer from them, only to find they havn't even got the right problem recored ffs. So far since getting it installed last friday I've got to use it 3-4 times :(. I've been promised some-one would ring be back every day since saturday, but have they no. I throught ASDL would answer all my problems, but has it feck, I've had more problems with this than BT internet (Now that saying some-thing)
Well you add me to the list for the last 3 days my adsl has been down and all they said to me was the exchange is down in my area(upper holloway) and the problem has been noted ffs must be a big fcuking note for it to take 3 days to fix :(
I`m not a happy chappy
Phone the chairman's office. I just recieved a call back and was on me mobile for 45mins (pity they don't pay the bill). The chap was very nice....bit of a sceptic, just like me, and we chatted on all things broadband. But basically, 2 weeks ago the login probs with HG1 started occuring. They reckon they are 95% fixed...and reckon they will be completely fixed in the next few days (best case) to middle of the week after next (very worst case). At least he didn't say it will be fixed "in the next few days", he actually gave a worst case scenario.
So I reckon we leave it till after the weekend and then kick up a stink if its still broken. He did ask me to call back with any problems I encountered, to ensure they stayed up to date.

As mentioned in a previous post, I have an HG1 password and over the past week have experienced connection problems persistently. The only reason I haved call the help desk is because disconnecting and connecting (sometime numerous times) seems to resolve the issue eventually.

hmm weird i aint had no probs with openworld
nice solid 30-40 pings in q3 and im ver y happy with it.
feel sorry fr u guys and hope its sorted soon
:)
well the 'problem at my exchange' has still not been sorted and BT never call back when they say they will.. I once asked what the problem at the exchange was and the person said they have to install more ADSL racks because of demand, but I can't believe that, I was one of the 1st people to order it in my area i'm sure..
I also know i'm on the HG1 gateway...
what do you say when you phone the chairmans office... "excuse me, i'd like to make a complaint to the chairman" or something?
Nah, just say you are very unhappy with the service, wish to make a complaint and ask to be called back.
The guy I spoke to said BT had been surprised at the demand, tho he himself was not suprised and thought BT foolish for not predicting it. So I reckon loads of peeps are getting it.
"Stephen" from BTopenworld just called 2 minutes ago and assured me the 'problem' at the exchange is being investigated, but he didn't even know for sure what the problem was, this guy spoke very fast and wasn't easy to understand ;) probably under alot of pressure maybe..
he told me to phone back on monday and by then they should be able to give me a new installion date.. but then again i've been told this twice so far, original install date was 9th OCT
I think i will keep off complaining for now, although I did say I was very concerned and was thinking off complaining when I phoned them earlier today, that's probably why I got the call back ;)
BT are installing ADSL line as I speak - the problem is I'm at work 20 miles away and the non-technically-minded missus is overseeing!! I've told her to hold engineer at gunpoint until she sees it working :)
PS. Has anyone got a log-on that ISN'T hg1 - ie. hg2/3 etc.
PPS. Are the peeps who are having no problems (few and far between, admittedly) hg1 log-ons too?
Just curious...

As far as I can tell, all the HG servers (0-6) are having problems tho its HG1 which is worst affected.
After a few anxious calls over the course of the afternoon, Mrs Confused says BT bod went away happy. He did run into problems during install which were solved when he updated his laptop's drivers.
Now I've just gotta sit here working for another six-plus hours before putting it the test when I get home. Been reading up on hg1 problems all afternoon and I'm not exactly optimistic.
Still, after 14 long months I've actually got the bugger. If it works it'll just be a bonus :)
PS. Missus actually asked me in all seriousness: "You're not really going to try it out when you get home, are you?"
Honestly...women!!!

I cant believe you didnt take the day off work! I sat with a box of tissues in my hand while the engineer was installing mine..just in case it didn't work and i burst into tears!
btw I was told by the helpline a couple of months ago that they don't investigate any problems until they've had 10 complaints about the exact same problem!!
LOL! I DID take the day off work (last week), but my line test was screwed and I got them to reschedule install date to first available slot (today).
Never mind the install, I nearly wept when I heard I'd even passed the line test!!
Not sure how I'll react when I first lay eyes on that ugly little green modem. Perhaps a tender kiss and a cuddle, followed by a savage and unnecessarily brutal beating when it inevitably fails to work :)

Shiva,
My BT Openworld (HG1) has been down for 2 weeks today :(
Thats quite a bitch. Phone the number in my sig...just don't tell 'em its posted on the net...lol
Muf,
i guess the box of tissues was a two way bet - just in case it did work
You can definatly add me to your list, it took a week and a half after my installation to get it working and its been touch and go weather or not I can connect since then.
Last time I spoke to openworld the guy told me that they were themselves taking a complaint to oftel about BT, how weird is that?

Its not so wierd as u think, openworld dont own any of the technology, they just lease it or someting off of BT, a bit like all the othr ADSL supply companies. The only difference is that openworld is run by BT...if that makes sense to anybody!!!!!
lo peeps,
Kali rang up openworld cos she has a clan match at 3pm this afternoon and of course the service isn't working. She said she had an "online confrence" and it was essential she got on line. She suggested moving us to another HG server. Heheheh, they fell for it. I now have a test login and password for HG0. If anyone else is having serious problems drop me a line and i'll dish out the pw.
I think its now time to get in touch with watchdog....
Well, Im on HG1 and ive had this **** all the time too. I hit the connect button and it appears to connect but the ****er dont transfer any data.
What twats pay £40 a month to use thier old 56k modem ? i tell ya what if it aint resolved sharpish im gonna ****ing cancell the ****er
m8, they have us by the short and curlies....12 months contact etc....pain in the ass....watchdog here we come...
hey guys i had the engineer round on friday and he tested the line and said there was no signal from the exchange.
he said it wsa something to do with the exchange software being down. So i phoned em back 2day and they said they would phone me back tommorrow morning and fill me in on the problem.
im currently on my half term and i was counting on having adsl over the week. I was gonna use it all day and night for no phone bill at all. So i screwed at the ******* on the phone and told him how pissed off i am.
The bitch better phone me tommorrow otherwise they r gonna die (qp will hack the **** out of them)hehehe
im on hg1 btw
so u recon my problem is the same as what u guys r getting????
Also when u phone the help line they say they r having problems with the network and u can hardly get thro to them on the phone let alone use the adsl service.

On friday and saturday I had problems with BT Openworld(im on hg1) so i phoned up. They told me there was problems with hg1, hg3, hg4 and hg5. wierd
Quote of the moment:
ADSL is good....when it works
shiva, let us know what u say to watchdog, should be some interesting reading :)
i dont think the 12 month contract spiel they give you is valid. IMHO If they offer an always on connection and it isnt always on, then legally they are deemed to have broken their end of the contract. obviously the odd one or 2 days is not reasonable, but im reading here that many of you havent had service for 1-2 weeks.
Im still waiting for my 5th line test now my gain has been turned down. Im not sure if i want to pass or not now!!
hehehe

Look I'm not pro BT or anything but did you guys honestly think there wasn't going to be teething prob's......
BTW, I'm getting it installed on Tuesday and I haven't had my line tested yet..........
Oh and what exchanges or areas yous all live in, it might help to find out the hot spots..........
Teething problems fair enuff. For example my first 2 weeks were only mared slightly by being unable to log on, but it has got much worse recently.
Shiva, needless to say that you can add me to the list. Almost 3 weeks since it was installed and still have no connection. I have absolutely no confidence that it's even being worked on at the moment. Openworld are speaking to some hush-hush Dept.X or MenInBlack type set-up that no-one outside can speak to. Tried (several times) BT too and they're no better. All I get is the usual 'it's still with the engineers'. I mean, c'mon. I could have installed a new exchange in 3 weeks, let alone just replace a card :(
Whinge over, for now... ;)
:homer:
Right, have had my say to Watchdog....
I am an Openworld customer paying £40 a month for ADSL. Myself and many other people are having serious difficulties actually logging on to the service and getting online. I, myself, cannot connect before 11pm most days, and some people cannot actually get on at all. When enquires regarding compensation have been made, a simple "when agreeing to our terms and conditions you waived any right to compensation" has been dispensed. This is outrageous. I am paying for a service, which works only rarely, and I am not entitled to any form of compensation. If you wish more infomation regarding people suffering from this, I can point you in the direction of some forums, full of dissatisfied customers of BT Openworld. This problem appears to be due to the simple fact their service is oversubscribed. I believe this to be true as it is getting harder and harder to log on. I really hope you take this on, because BT are full of promises regarding the high speed revolution, but sadly have yet to meet them.
I will also send this to the register....any thoughts?
Just sent same message to OFTEL. I urge everyone else to complain to the following addresses.
Watchdog (http://search.bbc.co.uk/watchdog/email_us/)
OFTEL (http://www.oftel.gov.uk/crs/compform.htm)
Email The Register at: tony.smith@theregister.co.uk
The more people that complain the more chance we have of something being done.

Arh a new one to complain to :) Already sent to OFTEL will send to watchdog as well . Well its taken openworld over a week to tell me that my modem is faulty :( and some one will be in touch on tuesday to srot out a replacement (Something I asked to be done after i first reported the problem). So it looks like I might be up and running by the end of the week :), only two weeks from when it was installed and with any luck the HG1 server might have been sorted out
