is it just me or do they really suck?

I sent a elite unit up gainst a green confederate unit equal in size, and yep you guessed it they got their bottys wh00ped. for some reason a completely inexperienced confed unit can destroy an elite union unit on equal terms. :(

i used to confderates on maximum difficulty and completed the entire scenario with every battle being a decisive victory for the confeds. but when it came ro trying it from the union point of view on the same difficulty level i was incapable of getting even a marginal victory for the union. (although i did get a descisive victory in the first engagement it went downhill from there)
as ive just picked this game up again after 1.5 yrs id appreciate any advice on using these troops any of you have to offer? :)
this is assuming that any of you know this game.

Hmm, I'm afraid Gettysburg and Antietham (I think thats right) are two of Sid's games I have no experience of playing, except the demo of Gettysburg which was cool. I'll try and find a site that might be able to help you.

The best site that I could find for you was this one:
SidGames.com Gettysburg Tips Site (http://acw.sidgames.com/smg/strategy.cfm)

It contains tips and cheats for Gettysburg. However if u're still having problems don't worry look here (http://www.gamespot.co.uk/pc.gamespot/strategy/smgettys/links.html) to see if u can find any useful information. Hope that helps.

ok thnx m8, thats all pretty basic info, but it helped.
i was neglecting the fact that the union had more regiments, so it made it easier to flank opponents. instead i was making huge battle lines with the extra troops as reinforcements on the weak points..

oh btw no "h" in Antietam

Ta again for the time you took to look for it.

i take it that the majority of readers here are Civ and AC fans?
Civilisation was the first Meier game i owned but since real time has come on the scene i dont have the patience that i used to for turn based games, although i do still play Civ every now and then on an old laptop i have.

It seems most people who visit the forum know Civ and AC.

But I'm also a big fan of Railroad Tycoon and my favourite Colonization.
