I have read the posts buy some of you people regarding ADSL customer services shambles and can only sympathise with you.

My problem is different. I am with NTL and have been after a Cable Modem for over a year. I call up every 2 weeks to find out more about when I can have one in my area (St. Albans). Everytime I call I get the same problem as follows.

1. I call the number advertised on the website...But apparently I have the wrong one.

2. I get put through to someone else who unfortunatley....can't help. But knows who can.

3. They can't I have come through to the wrong call centre. They give me another number.

4 I call that number to be told that they are not really NTL but C&W. They cannot help me but put me through to someone who should be able to.

6. They can't. They advise I call 150. I do that and they say that the person should not have told me to call that number as they don't take complaints. They give me a new number.

7 Nope.

8 ---> 15 Still no joy and now my head is full of pressure that needs to be relived.

16 The young lady from 4 (above) says 'I have already spoken to you, what happened?'. I calmly explain and she give me another number.

17 Nope...I ask for a number so I can cancel my Telephone and TV service. (thats an easy one to get right)

18 Nope....I'm speaking to sales and he can't help me and is extremely arrigant. He puts me through to someone who can help me cancel my NTL rubbish.

19. Wrong....thats the Customer Services department from Nottingham. I explode and the poor lady at the end of the phone gets it all. She listens and finally gets me some answers.

20. I still have NTL but no Cable Modem.

Please note this is not a one off, this happens regularly. NTL are very crap at looking after their customers.

All you BT bashers out there remember...there are worse....and they are called NTL. I know I have both to deal with.

lo m8

Had a smilar problem with NTL, it took about 4 days of the phone sitting on hold every night to get through and get my CM ordered.

We finaly worked out on day 3-4 that the way to do it was Demand ;) to speak to a supervisor, and get that supervisor to take reponsability for it, and sorting out what you want. It's amazing how quick things move after that :)

Well at least some of you lucky guys got a cable modem, im sure most of you with ADSL/Cable modems have forgotten the pain of 4-5k:)

Id rather have a cable modem capable off 6K then nothing right now.

NTL have stated they will get all NTL customers Cable modem access by X-mas/early next year.

So its only 2-3 months away for all of us:)

They did?

Funny that cause when I ring them the answer I always get it

"Sorry Sir, we have no plans for Cable modems to be installed in your arse (erm area even) in the near future."

"Whys that then?"

"Well, you see you arent really an NTL customer, your actually ex C&W which means we don't give a toss about you and have planned jack sh!t for you in the future."

"Oh, what about digital TV then?"

"What about it?"

"Well I was supposed to be getting a free upgrade last year and nothing has turned up so far."

"Look - do you not understand - you are ex C&W, we really don't give a toss about you ..."

The lady on the phone is a lot more polite than that obviously, but thats how Mr NTL would speak to me if he existed ... fecking hell am I pissed off with this broadband sh!t ...

Oh did I tell you that I was 60 fecking metres too far from the exchange to get ADSL - and they didn't even test the quality of the line ... as soon as you go past 3.5km its "F*ck you very much sir, but you can't have it."

*******s ...

Erm dunno it was posted here all over these forums about 2-3 weeks ago, the news that NTL are going to to offer a more direct Cable modem connection to existing NTL users AND ex-C&W customers by X-mas or early next year.

You can check back here in the forums I know 2 NTL workers confirmed this news weeks ago, but NTL then announced there plans a bit later on so im happy its coming soon too me.

Im in London and just 2-3 weeks ago NTL said I can upgrade your box to digital box now !

But Cable modem access they have no idea...

Dont exactly take it the wrong way we all know customers services/support at NTL they wont know anything, I once asked a lady when are Cable modems coming and she said a what modem????

They have no idea.... but only the supervisors/techheads will know.

Its coming soon just hold on:)

Just too keep you happy you can confirm the news from these websites...

http://www.cable-modems.co.uk/

http://cablenews.diginews.org/

They both have gossip and news from NTL and the latest happenings, im positve they state by X-mas/early next year.

NTL arent just sitting on there fat rich bottoms, there doing it now, there starting trials and offering digital TV and Seperate Cable modem access to Existing NTL customers and too Ex- Cable and Wireless customers too.

Just a matter off time, but I hope its true if I dont get Cable modem bound within 2-3 months ill un-subsribe from NTL and go Digital Sky/Homechoice ADSL.

PS: Highlander: End game is out this month should be much better !
