right, i have a creative cdrom drive, a 52x jobby, the model with a red turbo button on it. When i insert a cd, all it does, is spins up to a slow speed, makes funny noises like the laser mech moving quite quickly accross the whole disc, then it does that a few times, then spews out the cd. Whats wrong?
P.S. i bought it from dabs bout 10 month ago, who do i contact if u cant come up with any solutions? Creative or Dabs?
Thanx lots ppl

and the moral of the story is
Never buy a creative labs cd drive

I think they need it the amount of times I've heard them break down
Dabs will probably point you in the direction of Creative but try them first as they'll be quicker if they can do stuff.
my gosh, creative r still actually makin cdrom drives, y dont they just give up on trying to make a decent one, they'll never get there. i had a creative 24x MAX as they call it, and all it did was make a huge rattle from under my desk- earthquake type, and never read one cd properly. audio cd's just skipped as if i was jumping around with the cd rom drive. it was so crap, i even opened it up, cleaned the lens, but it still did the same thing. Well that's my story, my advice- give up and buy a nice shiny new teac 40x cdrom drive for £30.

Borrow some money, buy a new one, swap the cases, take it back, get a refund, give money back, enjoy cds.

you cant swap cases without busting the warranty seal though.
