Having nearly finished the game i have to say i prefer the first one. The simple reason is that this one is more indepth but not if you see my ponit. The quests you do get are very detailed etc. but there seem so few compared to the last one. The areas there are to explore which i found was one of the great points about the game have dwindled serverly in number so you can no longer just wonder doing quests and finding things. It seems in BG2 i have managed to do alot of the stuff to do while in the first one you felt like there was loads of un found areas with different wuests to be found.
Any way opinions?
or just plain ugly??

there are plenty of places to explore just have to find the quests whichh get you there i have found a few allready which i missed 1st time round. Though Blame the yanks, it was them who complained about wandering round maps just to unclear everything like in bg1. BG2 is the better maninly IMO due to the npc's. I prefered to play Bg1 in muiltyplayed with 6 of my own party as the npc's were boring apart from Coran :)
Like Scarab says the NPCs and their interaction with you and each other are pretty good :)
There are so many sub quests, you just have to talk to people this time, rather than exploring. I've been playing alot and I'm still only on chapter 3. I also read an interesting comment from the lead play tester of BGII who said if you play through on normal difficulty, doing the bare minimum in the way of quests then it'll take aproximately 80 hours. If you play as many of the sub-quests as you can then you're looking at 400 hours playing time. Then on top of that it's not possible to see everything with one set of characters.

Having now finished it i am disapointed with it compared to the last i have done all the quests possible for my character and you only get a few different ones with other charcters. Where have all those areas to be explored gone.
