hi

if you mean the cable modems, then they should be, the hardware is identicle, all that has changed is a server setting for it:)

I don't think they are just as quick its 64 (up and down) versus 128. It doesnt make a huge amount of difference that extra 64k bandwidth but from my experience it can take a few MS off the travelling time.

hmm...not exactly the same but still pretty good :)
i use 512k and get a 25 - 40 ping in half life and Broon uses 64k and he gets 40 - 70 ping

oh i see, so there aint much point in getting the 512k for reasons such as it costs 35 quid more and not much differnce in pings?

well.......if u want 70kbps downloads web pages loading in the blink of an eye and a better ping in full servers then go for the 40 a month option
if u just want a decent ping and dont want to shell out that much
go for the 5 quid option :)

NTL have offered some people in selected areas who have cable tv but and NTLWorld dial-up the option to have a cable modem fitted free, with either 64k download @ £5 a month, or 512k @£39.99 a month.

really? sounds good.

i dont have cable tv or NTL dial up. im with sky digital and freeserve time. so i guess im out. ill try and give them a call and see if its available to me but most liekly wont be coz iv tried entering my postcode on their site to see whether their cable modems are available in my area and it wasnt.

ok so lets say i go for the 64k option, a fiver a month, what pings am i looking at in say quake 3? i know alot of isdn users with 64k connections have pings anywhere from 50-100 which aint too bad for a fiver a month.

anyone know if this service is availabe to me even if i dont have cable tv?
