The other day I had a problem getting connected to the net via BT Openworld, I called the helpline and after waiting on hold for 45 mins I was told that my home gate was down (hg5). It was down for aobut 2 hours I guess. The same happened yesterday my home gate went down (hg5) so I decided to try an experiment. I change the hg5 to hg4 in the username field of DUN and found that I could connect ok.
Just wondered if anyone else has tried this or had this problem ?

Well that was 2 hours that I knew of and it has happened more than once.
Did you try changing you home gate or was that the problem nothing to do with that ?

I'm on HG5 and had a similar problem.
I tried the exact same thing :)
It doesn't always work though. The next time I tried it I connected OK but couldn't send or receive any data.

i regularly swap the hg number to try for difernet performances etc
so far hg3 is best for me although i connect to 1 usually.
with all the others i get ping spikes but not with number 3.
