Need HELP,

This is a VERY bad problem.

Ok here is my story. Well i got a new computer and installed halflife and TFC then WP3 and i could play a good game over the net on it. However now after formatting my hard drive and reinstalling them all again ( with the same patches ) i get that stupid 'Warning connection problem' then 'CL_Flushentitypacket' thing and this makes me stop for about 2 mins, then i can move for about 10 seconds and then 'Warning connection problem' and 'CL_Flushentitypacket'

Anyone have any ideas?

its not my comp (modem etc), its not my connection (i dont think) and its not the patch i used.

Please help i cant play half-life because of this (is it anything to do with WP3?)

hi,

the flush entity packet thang is a problem which no-one seems to have a definate solution for yet.

do a search for it on the forums, and you will find lots a of people givin advice on what they've tried, but no-one has a definate cure for it.

see these threads here

http://forums.gameplay.com/showthread.php?threadid=191730

http://forums.gameplay.com/showthread.php?threadid=154526

unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a miracle cure at the moment.

checking the modem setup as per http://www.lagless.com won't hurt. take a look at this site, it's by the modem forum mod and has lots of good advice on getting as good a connection as possible for online gaming.

regards

champ.

thanks for the reply.

This really sucks because it means i cant play TFC anymore, i used to play it all the time on this comp but now i join a server and instantly it says 'Warning connection problem'.I can then play for about 10-20 seconds and 'Warning connection problem''Cl-Flushentitypacket'

WTF is this all about?

Do i uninstall TFC/HL and put it back on or do i just wait for it to magically fix itself?????????????????????????????

The Very strange thing is that i was plying it fine the other day (on the same comp, same HL, same patch) ?¿?

The honest answer is that nobody really knows exactly what causes it or exactly how to fix it (as Champ said).

If you do a search as Champ said or try the threads he posted up then you will find lots of different things to try. Some might help, some might not. There's no definite solution I'm afraid.
It does seem to be a totally random problem which happens for no apparrent reason and doesnt happen to everyone.
I have heard that it is a bug which Valve know about and will sort out but nobody knows when. :bigcry:

Of the top of meh head :cheese:

Most suggestions revolve around improving connection and ensuring your PC is as optimally set up as possible (i.e. restarting before running so the memory is as uncluttered as possible).

There are several things you need to check before playing online. Firstly, http://www.lagless.com is a must see. Second, make sure you've got the most up to date graphics/modem drivers. Just updating my modem drivers from the original install (about 2 years old) managed to halve my ping to UT.

Before playing, make sure you've got nothing else running. This includes 'Internet Acceleration' programs which do nothing at all for online gaming. Also watch out for programs that run to speed up the access to software (like the MS Office suite, scanners and digital cameras) - if you like playing online, waiting a few extra seconds for Word to load is a small price to play.

Then make sure you've tweaked the game itself to optimise performance - peeps in the Half Life forums would be the best people to ask about that, and there are several good websites.

And finally, although all the above helps, this would appear to ultimatly be an issue with Half Life. Something we have to deal with until Valve stop congratulating themselves over messing with Counterstike long enough to fix it :cheese:
