SlowForums

Hi.
I was under the impression that verbal abuse was not allowed on IRC.
I would of thought this was inportant, considering the games related nature of WirePlay.
After all who wants their kids on a games network where they are subject to verbal abuse?
Here is a log extract from Cstrike.uk
<Noz> slowforums
<Noz> you're a ****wit
<Zero-T> slow aimbots can't be used on every server
*** Jackie is now known as Jayques
<Zero-T> bunny hopping can
<slowforums> Noz, your a c**ksucker
<Noz> oh please
<Houd> rofl
<slowforums> <Noz> you're a ****wit
<Houd> op Noz
*** Sasha sets mode: +o Noz
<Zero-T> thing is ppl say bunny hopping exceeds the max speed of the server
<Noz> deop me
*** Duplex sets mode: -o Noz
<Noz> oh actually
<slowforums> hypocrite
*** Pie^Hunter has quit IRC
*** Ryu`bed has quit IRC (a whole KING pot noodle all too yaself? ya fat bloater! Sweets.. it was big dave! Whatever... coming too bed?)
<Houd> hur hur
<Noz> op me
*** Duplex sets mode: +o Noz
<Spawn`> ban slowforums
Now I understand that in a private channel ops can ban who they like and password it if they wish.
But Cstrike.UK is a public UK IRC channel.
This occured around about 17:30 in the UK
Now when Noz swore at me I waited, assuming he would be given a warning by an op, or banned, cos I thought it was a public channel?
But nothings happens so I swear in return, assuming that swearing must be accpetable after all!
But my swearing in response gets me banned?
At least I managed to get the word "hypocrite" in, when I saw the +o appearing.
Nice to know that the Uk's central channel for the WirePlay and BarrysWorld, indeed all the UK CS community, is controlled by sad, corrupt, hypocrites.
People who allow their friends to abuse newbies to a channel, but ban those that respond in kind.
Why are people such as that given responsibility for a channel?
PS
After previewing the post, I see the word I used isn't even filtered by the forums, whereas what Noz said, is filtered.
:)
So I have manually edited my "swear word".
