I'm running Windows 98b on a 500Mhz K62 cpu, a via apollo mvp3 mobo and 128MB RAM.

I've installed the card, done a fresh install of Windows (was needed anyway) and installed the latest nVidia reference drivers, but I can't seem to get any OpenGL programs to run without hanging the computer or crashing, I've not tried D3D yet, I've checked the settings etc and the bios settings, but I still cannot get anything to work.

Can anyone give me any help ?

Thanks

Tim

Not really sure I'm afraid.
I can't think of any reason why it might not work. :|

The best place for questions like this is probably the Graphics Cards Forum or the Hardware Forum.

When you say reference do you mean the Detonator 3 drivers?
If not, try them out or get the official card manufacturer drivers (eg Creative or whoever).

Just to warn you when I ran GL Setup it screwed my system but then I was using a Voodoo 3 :) and not an nVidia-based card.

Personally I don't trust and therefore don't use any programs like GLSetup.

I don't like the idea of a program messing with my config and installing drivers it thinks are better when they might be worse. :|

But that's just me. Might work for others. :)

...and as well as the 4 in 1, i don't think the mvp3 mobo has a bios option for write allocation (well, mine doesn't anyway....) so get setk6 from here:

http://www.techextreme.com/3dXtreme/files.shtml

in the utilities table.

Thanks to all of you, I was just about to install the 4in1 Via drivers when I saw the above post, so it confirmed it. I'd forgotten to install the with the fresh install of windows which I did to sort out the problem of the card not working (I was getting sick of 95 anyway) - I know I coulda installed the USB patch for 0sr2 but I wanted to put 98 on.

Setk62 - I've had that for ages, used it a lot ages back, but then zipped it and never used it again, thanks for the link, it should help a load.

Thanks again people

Hi Rukov
I Had exactly the same problem with a Geforce & Via chipset
the way around my prob was to force the card to run at 1x and not 2x with side band addressing off
the best way i found to do this was to use the Creative fasttrack drivers/ or the creative AGP wizard this does the same you can run the card at 1x because the via chipset does not like 2x or 4x
you can get them here http://www.3dblaster.com/drivers/and http://www.americas.creative.com/graphics/FastTrax/
it adds a display director to your system tray and you can switch all sorts of bits on and off untill it works perfectly
well i hope it might help so dont be scared to try it
:) :smokin:
