View Full Version : Direct X 8. Is it actually worth installing?
I've got the previous version of Direct X on my PC (7.0a I think) and have no trouble with it. Games run smoothly (TFC runs at 70fps offline) and the sound is fine.
Is there any point in installing DX8? I'm just worried it's gonna cause a problem I don't currently have.

At the moment, there's not really much point putting it on unless your video card drivers support it.
Not many companies have produced drivers for it yet, the only ones I know of are ATI for their new Radeon cards and my Matrox G400 at work's new driver is supported too.
Runs nicely on my Matrox. :)
Soon, 3Dfx and Nvidia (and the others i suppose) will produce certified drivers for it and then it will be worth upgrading so until then, if you have no probs now, you may as well keep it as it is. :E
