i've just up-graded a young boys PC(my sons friend!), and ... well...

its been a bloomin night-mare, honest.

anyway, i need a site that has a programe to find the identity of the mobo, sooo... i can turn on his onboard sound, and get this f/n sh!t heep out of my front room.
i've taken the hood off and i'm nun the wiser.
its been driving me mad for two solid days now.
coss its been braken down, like each time i start it up it has something else to complain about, not related.
god give me back my old time machine i promise i won't complain again. he he. not
and my cred has hit an all time low, that'll teach me.

plz anyone, i remember a site was on these boards but it was sooo long ago.

i need to find the maker of the board so as to get the right driver for the onboard sound, cos windows 98/millennium aint got a clue, a bit like me.

There is a lovely little program called CTBIOS (Written by a German of all people :)) which will look at your bios string and identify the brand of the mobo. My best suggestion after you do that is to go onto the manufacturers home page and try and identify it by sight.

The file is located here:

ftp://ftp.heise.de/pub/ct/ctsi/ctbios13.zip

For loads of handy advice on motherboards and stuff check out http://www.ping.be/bios and http://www.motherboards.org.

Hope this helps :)
